I hate this thread. I meet a kid named something unusual, and I’ve seen that specific name called out in newspapers as an example of the crazy names parents are giving their kids. There was only one kid with that name in the US that year, so I know it’s the same family. How will that kid, who goes by an extremely common middle name, feel when she reads newspaper articles making fun of her name?! The parents are from abroad and the name totally makes sense in their culture. We need to stop Name shaming. Yes, I used to think it was funny in my twenties, but we’re parents now. Be nice to the damn kids, people. Sheesh.

Don't believe you

NP. Who knows for sure, but I’ve known my bff for 35 years, and she absolutely swears she filled a prescription (pharmacist) for a Shithead, wondered why anyone would name their kid Shit Head, then was there when a customer asked if the prescription for Shih-theed was ready.

I worked with a lot of Chinese students who would pick an "English" name for ease and there were some doozies.
Some that I recall are Lucid, Cloud, Stormy, Frosty, Friend, and my favorite, Particle.

I have seen those names before (not together) and like them. Rhythm took me a bit but I really like it now.

Kentley (girl)
Kody (girl) (not siblings)
Dallas (girl)
Hedley (boy)
Raleigh (boy)
Cannon (boy)
Legend (boy)

I also know a few under 10s with surprisingly retro names - Amy, Kristen, Jessica, and Greg, just off the top of my head and I’m sure there are more.

Lancet
It reminds me of the old advice on how to deal with a boil: "lance it!" But I'm a Midieval history professor so maybe his name hits different.
