Not a BLC or Cap parent but this seems like just an angry parent. BLC is a very good team and based talent should have most spots on Cap Blue. There are several local girls already on MD teams who aren’t moving and the other local teams are nowhere near as good as BLC. Seems pretty obvious.

You should always been looking for a team you think is 1% better.

That’s a good point, MJ!

What is the point of Capital if the majority of kids come from BLC. It is no longer pulling the best kids around. Capital used to pull the best kids around regardless of club team. Now with priority given to BLC what is the point. Why not just call it BLC. You are going to have a bunch of kid tryout for the 8th grade BLC program next year. That is going to push kids who have been in the program down to Orange or out of the program.

Totally reasonable to have a plan, a backup plan, and a backup plan for your backup plan.

There will be a lot of movement among the DC area 2030s and almost every summer something unexpected happens where one or more teams implode, there is a last minute and very surprising coaching change, or a new team comes on the scene claiming they will be much better than all the other teams (they usually aren’t).

This summer will be no different and we will likely see several if not all of these things at play.

If you think it’s sleazy, you think your kid is on the bubble. These programs, all of them, only help you if you’re in their program.

The overwhelming majority of BLC players are expected to move on to Capital. There’s no harm in securing a few offers from Maryland clubs as well, there’s no loyalty in club lacrosse. Keep your options open, see how things develop, and make a decision when the time comes.

Sleazy
How would you do it? Wait until you see how the later tryouts go, and if you get cut, then what? Really interested in the correct altruistic gameplan.

The program that thinks they are getting the most slots is always disappointed.

The 8th grade program. I’m sure the best team will get the most spots, buts it’s never as many as its parents have estimated.

Would that be the Capital program or the BLC program being disappointed? Capital has the demand… BLC…? TBD!

I think you're overstating the impact of the BLC numbers. They have a very small team, so while those players are guaranteed admission to either the Blue or Orange team, there should be more open roster spots available than you've projected. It's also unlikely that every BLC player will choose Capital, which should further increase the number of available opportunities.

Now that’s funny. Not if your daughter wants to make the team. Parents weren’t even allowed to watch their daughters practice at the Capital Academy Premier program (outdoor practices). Parents of girls going to the new Capital Academy Premier Interest Clinic - don’t count on watching your rising 8th grader practice.
