This is so true and it’s just actually sad to see how the moms AND dads are using their children to claw their way up the “social order” of McLean and attempt to get in with the billionaires and athletes. Using people’s full names constantly to name drop and brag. Acting as if being friends with the development admin at Potomac makes you gods gift to this earth, then gossiping about that person in the next breath. After all they’re just a lowly admin, not a real friend. And then taking a nice combo of pills to get through their sad lives where all they have to bolster their self worth is their children’s elementary school. Yet no one outside this zip code even knows the schools name. I really hope they find some fulfillment and realize there’s more to life than the three mile radius around Potomac school.

You guys talk as if Potomac is the best school in Nova. Its not even better than Veritas, Basis, or Ideaventions.

I have many friends with kids at Holton, Landon, Prep, Gonzaga, Sidwell, STA, GDS, etc. and literally never seen an adult wearing any form of clothing for one of those schools.

So long way of asking .... what is wrong with these parents? Do they have nothing better going on in their lives? It has certainly turned me off from ever applying my kids.

Potomac lives rent free in their head and it really shouldn't. Getting in as a 9th grader is like under 10%. It's a lottery. There is nothing magical about Potomac and Potomac families aren't better than your family, Potomac kids aren't better than your kid. Just let go of the envy and enjoy your exceedingly high income life.

I actually see it as the opposite, that Potomac parents are exceedingly envious of the parents of kids in the "Big" DC schools and that is why they often spew such vial things at other parents. I'm not sure Potomac lives rent free in anyone's head, but then again, I'm not from McLean nor did I even look at Potomac for my child.

I don't see a ton of vile things from the potomac parents here. Most of the vile comments seem to be headed in their direction.
My kid doesn't go to Potomac and I don't live in McLean either but Potomac definitely lives rent free in the heads of some mclean moms the same way big 3 lives in the heads of some northwest/chevy chase moms.
If you don't live in mclean and you never considered potomac what are you even doing on this thread? Seems like potomac might be taking up a tiny corner of your brain. it shouldn't. It is only selective because it has been around a while and it is relatively rich.
