Pakistan is competent when it has to be. This war was a disaster for Pakistan economically. Schools were partially shut. The price of gas rose by 40%. There were shortages. If Iran collapsed, they would have a huge refugee crisis in Balochistan. Where they are already facing insurgents.

Therefore they are highly incentivized to see this war over and no doubt trying their best to help bring that about.

There’s no real ceasefire. Iran and Israel are still lighting each other up and gulf states are fighting off drones. Trump painted himself into an economic corner, probably greenlit a failed special ops mission they lied about and turned into a rescue mission, and negotiated a hidden surrender.

IOW - this has NOT been accepted. It is a basis for negotiations. Trump will never allow Iran to continue to enrich Uranium.

And, my prediction is that ships will transit the strait WITHOUT paying a fee.

But if Iran does not stop bombing Israel like it is currently doing, all bets are off.

This mediation involved Pakistan, Turkiye, and Egypt, with China doing some nudging. Along with Iran and the US, those are the major countries involved in the region so it would put Israel, and the US, in a corner now if the terms are not kept.

we are not signatories to the Geneva convention so it doesn't matter. teh global order and intl law doest apply to the USA both in good times and in bad. we are the most powerful country in the world and have been for 100 years. our poor decision making for teh past 25 years has been weakening the all powerfulness that we had previously but there is no-one who can challenge teh might of the US. so its up to us citizens to not abuse that power.


The US is a signatory and wrote the Geneva Conventions.

Israel on the other hand is not a signatory.
