DP. The reason I think this might still be a possibility is because of who Savannah and her husband are, and the proximity to Mexico.

These kidnappings are common in Mexico and South America. They typically don't make our US news because regular citizens are kidnapped in these countries and then released for say $1500 or so.

If you limit the list to celebrities that have relatives in Tucson that they actually care about…..the list is quite short.
When I was in HS, the big news was that Gary Shandling had a house in Tucson. He was our huge local celebrity. It’s not like LA.
News personalities can become a target for crazy people or criminals because they are so visible in the sense that they are on your tv daily for an hour. And news personalities aren't actors playing a character so people think they know the real person.
