Since the 1980's and particularly after Monica Lewinsky, the Dems have tried to be a party above the fray and in doing so, conceded braun and issue to the GOP.

Also Wisconsin is moving towards an independent commission which would be a huge improvement over the ridiculous Republican gerrymander there.

New York is going to add a seat as well unless SCOTUS stops this (it won’t - it’s not interfering in partisan gerrymandering)
