I'm just asking about the politics and not whether this shutdown is wrong or bad for federal workers which is without question.
Republicans will have a two seat majority in the House. And Republicans have the Freedom Caucus bomb throwers and nihilists who reflexively vote no on all spending. Republicans can't pass anything without cooperation from Democrats, which is what they were doing until Elon Musk dictated his demands and effectively shut down the US government. Trump is clearly Musk's lackey. He's pathetic.

Something will pass by Friday because Congress wants to go home. They will find an excuse to give Trump the middle finger and Trump will accept it because his a weak, lame duck and Musk will Xhit some lies and we'll all move on.
I doubt it. Trump shut the government down right before Christmas in 2018 for 5 weeks. He isn’t even President yet, and somehow these fools are letting him run the show. How is that going to look in the history books? “The GOP followed the President-ELECT’s lead and shut down the government for…. Costing the government $XX… “ It’s so stupid.
Trump will say "it happened under Biden" and his idiot followers with a 5th grade education will cheer it on.
Then President Doge will convince Rs in Congress to raise the debt ceiling to bankrupt the country like every Trump company, and his idiot followers will cheer him on.
And why isn’t Biden saying anything now?
Because he's lost faith in the American people.....many of us have. The morons voted and now we all deal with the chaos.
Then why isn’t Biden stepping down? Totally fine to lose faith, who cares, but he is still in office and has a job to do.

They apparently didn't bother to check in with any democrats on this plan even though they will need lots of democratic votes to pass it.
Jeffries has come out against it. Hopefully he holds.

They didn't last time. And the thing is, there's nothing wrong with this CR. It had 1500 pages of bipartisan spending for various needed things, added by both Rs and Ds. There's no problem with this CR except that Musk tweeted that he didn't like it.

Trump is backing this plan, but many of the GOP House members do not, at least not at the moment.
