Only 37% of Americans have a bachelors degree. Most Americans don’t live in towns or states with many universities, and many opportunities to do white collar work. We still don’t have high speed rail so people in the Midwest can commute to Silicon Valley for jobs. People on the coasts are out of touch with the realities of people in the middle of the country. They don’t want a mandate to buy health insurance they won’t even use as they can’t take a day off work to go to the doctor without losing their job or losing a day’s pay.
