I'm not sure it matters. The democrats thought that using celebrities and influencers would get their mess across. Lots of companies do this to sell their products. The choices look a little baffling to me at times (eg saying they couldn't take Kamala "off the campaign trail" to go on Joe Rogan at a crucial time, as though a rally would somehow be more effective than the biggest media platform on earth). But there is a certain logic to the choices they made.
