The security was strict, hundreds of police everywhere, with pistols (holstered guns), and what looks to me like rapid fire machine guns. No one got through without a thorough inspection (inside bags, individually wanded - my empty pockets somehow beeped, and I had to turn my pockets inside out to show there was nothing there).

It was a long, crowded ride home on the subway, but worth it and fun being with the happy crowds.

Unfortunately, still raining hard this morning, and will continue all day. Happily, we are attending indoor events today (Saturday).

I didn't have a problem with any of it and found it well done. The drag show also wasn't really appropriate, but not a bother. But the mockery of the Last Supper was totally unnecessary and offensive.

NBC has paid billions to have Olympics on NBC until 2032. They better get different anchors to cover the events. Hottest day on record ever this last week. Move Olympics to spring or fall depending on where host country is located/weather. Apparently, NBC didn't want Olympics conflicting with NFL season (games on NBC) starting in Aug/Sept.

Some great moments. What worked well was parade of boats and makeshift stadium centered around the Eiffel tower. Overall though ceremony as shown on t.v did not flow.

Of course she is an amazing athlete but their focus on her on their news segments is much. Was Biles asked to carry torch on the boat but because she wasn't coming to opening ceremony, they asked Coco who was youngest American to carry torch (along with elder statesman Lebron James)?
