lolol! my kid goes to all kinds of tryouts with very little chance of moving clubs. Just likes to see what’s out there and who is showing up where.

Disagree that there was a lot of inside politics on the Nike DMV team - they picked kids from several teams and except for one obvious player all the kids picked were arguably the best choice.


I love the dancing here - daddy ball, nepostism, favoritism, "one obvious player" - MadLax is far from the only club that engages in this, but bc the owner puts himself WAY out there it's the current poster child for it. If you pay that guy for the 28 or 24 team, you are subsidizing his kids' playing time, and they are just not good enough to be taking those slots. So makes your choices but that's the unassailable truth.

Ok that’s not fair. From what I’ve seen from older and younger sons than this class, ML puts out quality product consistently, provided Maddux isn’t the or even a coach and his kids aren’t on the team. Otherwise it’s not worth the fees since you can get what he offers for a lot cheaper elsewhere.


that may have been true a few years ago, but recently the quality of the Madlax product has become very inconsistent. One of the biggest criticisms is daddy ball. The owner has sons on the 2024 and 2028 teams, plus there is a parent coach on the 2027 team who favored an inferior player and caused players to leave. I believe they have parent coaches on younger teams too. Not sure if the motives are nepotism or cost cutting, but it has diluted the product and made it third best in town behind NL and DCE, not to mention all the national teams now competing for the better players.

how many different tryouts did you check out to reach that conclusion? and, are any teams holding tryouts this early? you sound like a troll, with a foul mouth, stirring the pot.

That said, MadLax is a revolving door so there is nothing newsworthy about players coming and going every season.


I can’t tell if you’re naïve or just argumentative. But in the case of the former- most of the lateral moves (eg a player switching from one elite team to another) don’t go through tryouts. the dad calls the coach finds out if the team has any interest and then the player attends a practice or two.

I wouldn’t say hijacked but the helmets were there. Cab apparently gave his own undersized kid the number of one of his best players who just left. Give the guy credit for staying true to form.

Don’t forget that NL, DCE and ML have B teams who will always hope to move up or even switch to a perceived better B team.
