To me she appears as someone who is living in the moment, taking it all in, and enjoying it all. Living in the moment is something that takes most decades and age to figure out. That was Oprah’s send off when she ended her talk show “live in the moment”.

And I’m not a Swiftie.

There is living in the moment and then there is immersing yourself in the main character role. Those are two different things. Just because you are in the moment, doesn’t mean you are so into yourself you don’t take anyone else’s feelings or reactions into account with your behavior.

Nicely put. At her core Taylor is childish and just something she will need to work on. It's hard to imagine she's only one year younger then Adele

Wow TIL I learned that Taylor is only a year younger than Adele and 3 years older than Miley Cyrus and yet both of those people seem like adults and Taylor... does not.

Stunted.

Miley seems like an adult to you? Interesting. I'm not dissing her, but I guess I see her as more ego-maniacal, self-absorbed, etc. but OK. ("I'm doing this so I can watch myself tomorrow and say I look good." And we're dissing Taylor Swift for being her own main character?) I'm a fan of her music though.

If she can't be the main character in winning an award, and then breaking a Grammy record for that award, when can she? I didn't think she was rude at all. Celine Dion was there to give out an award, not steal the award winner's thunder. That was the Grammy award winner's moment, not someone who's out of the public eye most of the time. I don't think Miley had to suck up to Mariah Carey either. They're presenters. If they want to be fawned over, put out new material and get nominated and be your own main character. Don't try to steal from others.
P.S. I don't actually think Mariah Carey or Celine Dion gives two craps about whether they were fawned over. They had their many, many moments in the sun. They were likely just happy to be there.

This is a misunderstanding of what awards shows are for. They are only partially about recognizing the "best" work of the year (where best is highly subjective and often very political). They are industry gatherings and they serve a lot of purposes. For the recording academy and the industry as a whole, the event is absolutely as much about bringing out people like Mariah and Celine and giving them moments of recognition and honor, as it is about recognizing Miley and Taylor for their recent work.

I don't think Mariah and Celine expect to be "fawned over" exactly, but why would they show up at all if they didn't expect some love and respect there? Celine has a debilitating illness that likely made getting ready for and showing up to that show pretty challenging for her. It's not like she's doing it for money or to get her name out there. She definitely didn't make the effort so Taylor Swift could snatch a Grammy out of her hands and then turn her back on her.

It was rude.

Yeah, usually when someone talks about living in the moment, I think of mindfulness. Taylor's behavior doesn't strike me as mindful or particularly in touch with her surroundings or what is going on. If anything, seems very checked out of the present moment and focused on her own stuff.

That's not even a criticism. I think awards shows are probably actually very boring and stressful for nominees. I wouldn't really expect someone to stay "in the moment." I think Taylor could have been more polite and self-aware, but I don't really blame her for not being very "present." I probably wouldn't be either.

Fantasia - terrible.

I thought Lizzo was canceled? Think she's been on the Ozempic.

Jay Z was a horse's ass. Way to channel the kook Kanye.

Tracy Chapman was AMAZING! Balled my eyes out!

Billie's hair is just so EXTRA. PLEASE STOP. Also, her relationship with her brother is odd.

Miley - happy for her but she's just annoying.

I didn’t like the speech at all. Overly promotional. And the call to action to check social media saying, “I’m going in the back and will post the album cover on Instagram” takes attention away from show performers.

Plus, we know she is not the one posting on social media. So don’t lie.

I like Taylor’s music. But the speech was bad. No one will tell her the truth though.

I thought is was classless because Miley had just been onstage excited to win her first Grammy and the first thing TS said was that it was her 13th.

Oh for God's sake. Taylor was happy for Miley and cheering her on. 13 is Taylor's birthday and her favorite number. The hater's gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate!
