What happened with the petitions ? The owners of Rosemary Bistro and Eddie Cano had competing petitions they were touting , with the Rosemary Bistro owner also bolstering his with some nasty commentary. We’ve stayed away from the whole block ever since this dispute broke but would love to hear from the owners as to what the status is now. Did they get a hearing. Submit their petitions? have they been notified of their status by the city ? After engaging the whole community in their dispute you’d think they’d offer up a transparent update. …

Traffic flows pretty much unimpeded. The bottleneck north of Dupont is also not really much of an issue. The worst traffic at Calvert due to the left turn signal being a delayed one in a lane that can go south (straight) or east (left). A turning only lane, even if it is a short one, would help a lot.

One continuous issue on Connecticut and throughout the city is cars taking a right from the center lane. When there are pedestrians in the crosswalk, they block the rightmost traffic lane when they should pull into the right lane past parked cars to turn. It is just laziness that causes drivers to have to slow down on their commute.

What? That's just wrong on so many levels. For instance, Woodley Park ("the bottle neck north of Dupont") has the lowest level of traffic on all of Connecticut Ave.

Connecticut and Nebraska is one of the most congested intersections in the entire DMV during rush hour. It sucks.

One of the worst parts about the Internet is that you can just make stuff up and be wrong and anonymous.

According to DDOT's own numbers it's the most congested intersection, on the most congested stretch of one of the most heavily trafficed roads in the City. That intersection is so congested that even the neighboring side streets, like Albermarle, are now jam packed from people avoiding it.

Meanwhile you clearly don't live in the area and don't even know where the intersection is.

The congestion there is not solely related to the streetery but the streetery makes the intersection much worse and much less safe. The pandemic is over. Things are only going to get worse, especially if people start going back into the office on Mondays and Fridays.

The streetery has almost no impact...there is a right turn arrow that virtually all of the drivers use. The through traffic is already in the center and left lane. The streetery is in the right lane. Do the math.

Dear idiot: all the traffic is backed up all the way to hell in the center lane because anyone who's used this road on a prior morning understands that if they don't get over now, they never will.

Instead they'll be stuck in one place, contemplating the Kermit the Frog green Jersey barriers of Rosemary's in what should be the right lane of traffic.

The right turn lane is turning right, the center and left are going straight. This isn't hard.

Why are you opining on and spreading aggressively ignorant disinformation on something that you clearly know nothing about?

Are the owners of that eyesore traffic clogging cafe on here ? Not everyone who rightfully complains about southbound traffic on CT lives in MD and some of us actually take the L2. Now it’s time to take our complaints to DDOT.

The streetery issue is about people getting onto Connecticut going south.

The streetery is in the southbound right lane. Why would people going north use Albemarle, which is almost a mile to the south, to avoid something that blocks a southbound lane?

People going south is the obvious answer. Why would you think that people only go north?

Albermarle/Linnean is the route around the northern part of Connecticut.

Cry more car brain. Cities are for people. Don't like traffic, take public transit or STFU.

Public transit includes buses - which are stuck in traffic. DC metro does not go everywhere. Many people in CCDC rely on the L2 bus. If you are a fan of public transit, you should want them to remove the streetery and install a bus only lane on CT Ave.

At this point, the L2 is like a 30 minute headway and totally useless for most commuters. Yes, it should be better, and advocates for bikes also support better mass transit. Sadly the pro-car lobby won out.

PP isn't wrong, traffic backs up to CC Circle because of one streatery. Source: Me, who has to catch the L2 along that stretch every weekday. You clearly don't live anywhere near there and should really stop commenting on it, you sound ridiculous.

Lol. Sure you take the L2.

And I guarantee you don't live in the neighborhood.

This is totally hyperbolic BS. I live on that stretch of CT Ave and see it every.single.day.

back up at the light at Miliary and another back up at Nebraska that usually goes to around Jenifer St - and it always has, regardless of a streetary or not. Regardless of 3 lanes or 4.

Exactly. For NB traffic zipping along to well-timed lights through Forest Hills, the backup is always at Nebraska first (note no streatery) then Military. It is the light cycle + people who do not know how to turn right from the right lane.
