You'll get mad really fast if people start updating this thread every time there is a carjacking in Ward 3. There were three attempted and one successful last weekend.

This was clearly Matt Frumin’s initial attitude. As an AU Park resident on the District’s western edge he probably felt everything was pretty much under control in Ward 3. But his eyes and ears have been opened in recent months.

Until homeless start living in Turtle Park he will continue to ignore the crime and voucher issue.

Why shouldn’t there be tent encampments in Turtle Park? Ward 3 should be more welcoming and inclusive for all!

The police need to start enforcing so-called "minor" offenses like aggressive panhandling, car break-ins, public drinking and drug use, verbal/physical assault, indecent exposure. Yes, Ward 3 does not have the violent crime of other wards, but we have to keep this seediness at bay unless we want to invite violent crime. Matt seems to have come around to this -- finally -- but we need more police funding and more officers. Everyone should write to their CMs about this weekly. Keep the pressure on.

No, I didn't ignore your post; I just haven't read the whole thread & have not experienced any significant rise in crime beyond broken car windows.

So you asked for examples which have already been posted but you are too …lazy? …to read them? Then why ask?

I'm not the OP, but I've lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and experienced a "first" this fall since people are asking for examples. While eating outside on the deck at Guapo's, a man approached tables seated at the edge and began helping himself to the lunches of patrons. He then took a chips basket, and was stuffing chips in his mouth while continuing to graze from plates around the perimeter of the deck. A waiter approached him and asked him to put it back, to which the man yelled, "How about I f***ing kill you?!" and stormed off. Fifteen minutes later police returned the chip basket. Did the incident keep me up that night? No. Will I be bringing my toddlers to eat outside again anytime soon (as we often do)? No. I feel bad that the wait staff has to deal with this.

It's indisputable that there has been an uptick in hostile occasions in the neighborhood. Luckily it is still pretty busy and I don't feel unsafe right now but it is heading in that direction.
