When you look at the matriculations, SR and VISI are much much stronger. Many going to top 20 schools on their own merits (as well as some recruits). It is not as lopsided as Prep, which seems to only get athletes and wealthy Chinese students into the top schools. Quite disappointing.
Well, if getting your son into a top school is your number one overarching priority, then Prep would not be the place for your family. Thank goodness there are other schools for you to choose from.
The families that do choose Prep seem to have a different (and maybe broader) set of objectives and expectations.
I can assure you that the Prep parents are almost universally pleased with the colleges their sons move on to after Prep.
Well we chose our Catholic HS for the excellent curriculum and focus on service and Catholic faith. The great college my kid got into was due to his hard work, and perhaps the fact he did so well in a school with a challenging curriculum. I don't know why this isn't the outcome for Prep students.
What HS did your son attend? You protest a bit much.

Absolutely. Plus GP currently has two alumni on the Supreme Court. Fabulous place to get an education
The school is not what it used to be. You can't live in the past.
Oh look, another parent whose DS didn't get in to Prep.![]()
As a Prep alum who has had two sons there recently I can assure you the school is very similar to what it”used to be”.
There are 100 more students, more buildings and way better athletic facilities. But the basic curriculum, the boys and the their families and the spirit of the place is still the same as it was.
That may be one of the things that separates it from other schools that are swept up in chasing the latest and greatest “fad”.

Catholic family here. Catholic schools all the way through grad school. Still have a couple in the late grade school years. Prep isn't what it used to be. The k-8 matriculation is weak compared to other area Catholic schools. The college outcomes are not on par with other privates, or publics for anyone comparing. It is not an anti-catholic issue. It's the school. Lots of people see through the presentation and polish, know the past is past, and correctly place it is as the weakest of area independent schools. Country club campus. Sub-standard school.
Tell me your kids didn't get into GP without saying your kids didn't get into GP.![]()
