It - and you - are so dishonest on that point!
Our country has since the Reagan presidency deliberately undercut school and other social service funding so unfortunately are who send to public legitimately feel they’re in a zero-sum game. But it’s actually refreshing to see people admit, even anonymously, that ODD and future conduct disorder Dx kids have no place nor innate right to terrify and ruin the educational opportunities of those around them. I have a feeling OP felt dismayed about the Newport News case, where that 6 year old almost killed his teacher. Lo and behind, super mom and super dad claim that their little sniper had “severe emotional disabilities.” To hell with ALL OF THEM and the administration. The non future murderer children have been traumatized, terrorized, were routinely evacuated, and after witnessing a teacher they probably were attatched to almost die, they miss a full 2 weeks of instruction after. But hey, LRE!

The administration at the school in Newport News ignored the warnings from teachers. You aren't going to see that in most schools. You are so dishonest in your attempt to make it seem like kids with behavior issues are in every class terrorizing your perfect children. Your hysterical view point is a threat to children with disabilities. The point of the previous post is that you crazy parents don't want your special snowflakes around ANY kids who may be different or in your minds, might slow down the class.
Your ignorance is not just annoying but dangerous for children with sns. There is a process for dealing with children like the one in NN. You have no idea what the parents were or were not doing. That area is known for being horrible wrt sns kids and the administration was probably not providing the supports required in the child's iep. This is on the administration.
Admit it the whole point of these posts is to segregate children with needs you don't understand.
You’re terribly deranged and damaged. It’s legitimately sad. My mom worked at every level within MCPS, and my own DC are in city publics, and we’ve had one tested to see if in-class services were indicated. No one is hoodwinking you. However: each year we have had kids who are violent and disruptive in their ES classroom; again, for the dozenth time in the event it penetrates your rage and froth and denial: no one is upset about kids pulled for testing or ST or art therapy. We’re talking about kids who need intensive treatment in other enriched or secure environments who consistently take up time and focus from 2 dozen other kids, who threaten and hit and harm.
You’re going to really get wound up offline about your child and inclusion and I doubt it will go well for you. Try not to embarrass yourself and escalate, it’s never a great idea.
If you are this angry and disillusioned because one mom said something rude about you daughter’s mild learning issue then you wouldn’t last a day in my world. My daughter has Down syndrome. You need to get a thicker skin and some common sense.
And for the record, I want these kids with severe behavioral issues taken out of mainstreaming. In fact they are why we have to pay $$$ so my daughter can go to private. These kids can come back when they are not dangerous or disruptive. They deserve real intervention while they are young. A regular mainstream classroom is not the place to get that kind of intervention.
The other kids have a right to a safe, orderly classroom.

But like many things the Federal Government tries to do, the implementation of their plan sucks and was nothing like what was intended. However, my good friend who is a sped teacher told me not to ask for that, because she will just get stuck in another room with all the disruptive kids who get pulled for tests.
I'm very clearly saying you are exaggerating the cases of kids who interfere with classes. My kid was a kid who "get pulled for tests" with some other kids. None of them got the accommodation for small group testing because they were out of control. Your argument in your first sentence is ridiculous. How misleading and manipulative.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I have a child with physical SNs and they are very tight with kids who struggle to read for a host of issues. There’s no resentment; I appreciate the extra staff that the ICT rooms provide and learned to pray that we get that class assignment because in our public it’s a WAY better teaching ratio! I doubt I’m alone in that.
You aren't volunteering in the classes if you say this or your school is not filled with "high achievers". Every single year I heard if from at least one parent who couldn't believe those kids were in regular academic classes. Keep up the lies.

It’s not fear-mothering to discuss the routine violence occurring in ES classrooms everyday. My kid is a moderately intellectually impaired but follows directions and particulates as best as she can. My husband and I can’t send her to public school because how is she going to interpret other kids throwing chairs, punching their “friends”, or kicking the teacher? How am I going to explain to her that so and so just has trouble controlling their feelings? How is she going to learn anything in a classroom that has to regularly be evacuated? How is she supposed to understand what to do or not do during Code Red? And God-forbid she gets smacked in the head with an object and they make her intellectually disability worse. How will I even know how she’s been hurt if the school doesn’t tell me? Do you see how these children with severe behaviors are disruptive to everyone? This is not about discriminating against SN. It’s about taking action against mayhem and violence.
