MAGA is more deplorable than I thought (and that’s a heavy lift)
Yes, Elon will destroy Twitter. Quickly and in a spectacular fashion.
Whatever Jeff earns moderating this site, it is not enough.
And seriously— avoid the Twitter comments. You've been warned.

There was a press conference four hours ago. Check the SFPD’s face page.
I’m asking for a police report.
Call the PIO and demand a copy. They’ll surely mske it a priority.,
I’m asking because of this story: https://www.ktvu.com/news/alleged-pelosi-intruder-has-manifesto-of-conspiracy-theories-sources
Did the police mention this in their press conference? He apparently had an arrest a while back for unstable behavior but the District Attorney at the time pressed no charges. Stories like this always unfold over time.
19 years ago. There is no charge except murder that he would still be in prison for.
And therein lies the problem. If not prison, then remain in an institution or mental hospital.
Are you suggesting that everyone who trespasses while shouting "where's Nancy?" should get life in prison or be permanently institutionalized for incurable mental illness?
Prattling on about “permanently institutionalizing” someone for “incurable mental illness” is cartoonishly ignorant.
You must not have read the post. It clearly stated 3 options for those who have committed violent crimes involving assault, murder, and rape.

Looks like Youngkin didn’t get the memo.
He condemned it as well. As you know.
Youngkin is despicable MAGA trash. He doubled down this evening when given the chance to apologize and clarify his comments. Unclear what his fleece vest thought of this. Just as Jesus preached to his disciples I guess.
He didn't "double down" on anything. Do go on, though.
“As the governor clearly said, the assault on Paul Pelosi was wrong and there is no place for violence,” a spokesperson from the Governor’s Office said. “He wishes him a full recovery and is keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers.”

No. I do believe very strongly that individuals who display violent behavior should not be out on low bail or no bail; that if a person commits a violent assault, rapes, or murders, then that person should be in prison, in a supervised group home with required meds administered, orr institutionalized for life.
Is that what happened here? It seems like he had some issue with the law in the early 2000s, then nothing for almost 2 decades (aside from conspiracy theories and far right propaganda consumption and sharing), then tries to harm/kill the speaker of the house by breaking into her home and attempting to murder her husband.
PP here. I don't know this guy's history; just mean going forward after his assault on Mr. Pelosi. People with whatever his issues are should not be walking around freely.
Nice strawman. People charged with attempted murder generally don’t walk around freely. Also, IIRC California has a 3-strikes law for certain felonies.
DP. Are you for real? Do you follow current events, even a little? JFC.

These comments may not be PC enough for you, but they are correct.
I'm not seeing how these comments are different from not having sympathy for anti-vaxxers who get hospitalized or die from Covid. The sentiment is the same.
EXACTLY. I’m recalling lots of “thots and prayers” and “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” comments from the LWNJ peanut gallery. Loads of snickering and derisive remarks when Rand Paul was violently attacked by his neighbor. Many had the gall to say that he deserved it - and none of those comments were deleted. It’s pretty rich that the same hypocritical crowd is calling anyone a “ghoul” for pointing out some obvious facts about this attack.
You are doing exactly what you are "trying to make a point against" How about you just be a kind human and acknowledge that this is awful. Show some empathy and humanity. Don't be the person who adds to the hostility. What has happened to us as humans. SAD!

What, exactly, is going to get worse? Do you know the motive of the assailant?
It was not a burglary he asked where Nancy was![]()
California law defines a burglary as entering a property with the intent to commit another felony. It helps to know something about which one is posting.
Ok great you are so book smart too bad you have zero common sense. The rest of us know this was political violence.
The law depends on knowing what’s printed in all those high falutin’ “books” with fancy Latin words. You even have to pass a 3-day exam to demonstrate minimal proficiency in California.
You are correct that he is being charged with burglary, but there are a few other charges as well. I didn't even have to learn Latin:
Could you point me to that portion of my post where I made the assertion that he would not or could not be charged with any other crime? Christ, what an insufferable know-it-all assh*le you must be in real life.
LOL. Have you read your own posts?
Please advise I have misstated the law in any way. Regards.
DP. You just come off as an insufferable know-it-all.
Posters shouldn’t misstate the law if they don’t want to be corrected. Facts matter. They’re critical to an informed discourse.
