Sorry op. Our grade has been hijacked by a mean mom group so I commiserate with your feelings. Many many parents are upset about it because it has ruined the feel of our grade but no one is sure how to handle it aside from completely avoiding them.
I could see this happening at an entry grade next year based on the toxic families who are alums and applying. We may no longer apply there. I don’t want to see their toxic, political, and unsportsmanlike misbehavior any more. Not worth it.
The last few months have been really eye opening to witness- their toxic emails, their toxic children, their bullying of others. And the silence of the rest is deafening as well. No school environment is worth that.
NP: Just chiming in that we have found some of the absolute worst parents are those who attended the Big 3 our children now go to. The entitled, better-than-thou, judgmental nature of some of them makes me sometimes regret our choice of school. Instead, we just avoid those jerks and hope our kids don't make friends with their kids (who are just like their parents).

What does it mean that they have hijacked the grade? What does that look like?
You either get it or you don’t. It is difficult to explain. If you are experiencing it or have experienced it you will know exactly what this reference means.
