I respect your opinion but I also think you fail to realize how difficult it is right now with COVID for these kids to get into the so called "elite" schools based on academics alone. Admissions are tighter than ever before. It is cascading all the way down the line.
Truly, I am not bashing you at all, I just think if my kid gets into a JMU or Fairfield or any other school and lax helps, that is great.
I think financials play a huge role for these girls (and the teams that recruit them) as well.
If I'm a VA resident and JMU calls. I'd take the call. It's a fantastic school for DMV kids with a great post college network in our area and, price is right compared to any elite Ivies.Their womens lax program is top tier with fantastic facilities. I might consider it over a $250K+ Ivy. Save cash, have a great athletic career, and use that savings towards an elite grad school afterwards? Just one perspective.

What we all know you think "I’d rather my kid didn’t play in college if she could only play at a school that MY friends and acquaintances didn't find acceptably elite and didn't make ME feel good to brag to them about"

Penn, Vandy, Princeton, UVA are elite the rest are great schools. Fairfield, Uconn, JMU, all of them are great options to get a degree AND play the sport. There are elite diplomas and schools within each of these programs. No doubt.
You may think the rest are “great schools” but many people don’t. I’d rather my kid didn’t play in college if she could only play at that level/type of college but could get into better schools on her own.

And many of those girls play for MD based clubs. This isn't only for those kids that play HS AND club in the area; some chose clubs other than Capital.
Get over your inferiority complex and go create your own DC only forum that you can moderate yourself if it is that much of an issue to you.
