I think the point is that it was the Capital supporters who were crapping on MD teams, indicating that CLC was superior because it focused on getting players into top academic lacrosse programs rather than just lauding top lacrosse programs with so called lesser academics. This does not seem to be panning out when you look across the board at the 2024 class. Not to negate any individual decisions based on individual choices or needs just the overall attitude about the overall directive of the program. Yes you can point to the 5-6 commitments to top academic schools but you can get that at Skywalkers and other programs as well...

This is right and consideration must be given to the fit for the girl and the desired academic program. DCUM is full of prestige whores who love to crap on everything other than HYPS.

I respect your opinion but I also think you fail to realize how difficult it is right now with COVID for these kids to get into the so called "elite" schools based on academics alone. Admissions are tighter than ever before. It is cascading all the way down the line.

Cap Blue to Stony Brook and Pride Black to ASU

DMV Cap Blue 24 to Yale

The 23 Cap Blue team had more relative success on recruiting compared to their competitors, at least so far. The 23 CLC recruits were pretty much better than any other team in the area with the exception of perhaps Skywalkers, and definitely better than M&D Black 23. While the results for the 24 Cap team are definitely good so far, M&D Black and others are having more impressive results. More local girls are having great success by going north. Also the Cav Charlottesville girls are having a great recruiting campaign. The girls in these area are seeing that they do not have to come north to CLC to have recruiting success. Not sure the reason, but maybe folks were not attracted to the 24 CLC coaches or found better options elsewhere.

Wow. Just flat out wrong. My kids are smart and work hard in school and a top college is their top goal - not playing lacrosse itself. If top college and lacrosse go together than okay. If not, P-A-S-S, per my kids. They didn’t work their butts off in high school to end up at a lower tier or no-name college. It’s beyond ridiculous how many parents who post here seem to think their priorities are first and foremost. I have found that parents with kids who are at the top - academically, athletically, have more than enough drive and strong opinions on their own futures. They are going to settle. In fact I Susie t that too many lax parents push their kids to accept a spot at a lower tier college just so they can say their kid is committed to play D1lax (and maybe get a little $$). That is what is truly pathetic. Plus kids who play on top clubs can always walk on if they want or play club. Lots of options to play lacrosse but not so many to get into top tier schools.

The key question is…would these be schools your DD would attend if lacrosse was not something to consideration. If yes, then it’s the right choice for that individual.

If not, and your DD commits just to play lacrosse the outcome may not be what was expected. We all probably know players where this didn’t work out. Wish all the girls much success, but there are some puzzling choices, which makes some wonder if the decision was all about lacrosse. Especially coming from the Capital program. Hopefully players/parents don’t go into this process with the goal of committing to D1. There are other great options. The reality is beyond the top 30 D1 programs the talent starts to fall off quickly. This equates to roughly the top 300 players from each recruiting class. That’s a small pool. Choose your schools first, get a great education, enjoy those years, and if lacrosse comes with it, great.
