Please stop with the “best country in the world” cr@p.
If you’re middle class or wealthy it’s not a bad place to live.
But the US doesn’t ever even make it to the top of any quality of life lists. I’ve lived in 5 countries and they’ve all had their issues, though some definitely offered a better quality of life for me.

Same! I think that it is primarily one or two trolls posting here and they obviously have very limited experiences outside of the US. Like you, we are well traveled all over the world. The US is a wonderful country, slightly imperfect, but it is a shining star compared to many other countries, developed and undeveloped. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We are all very lucky to live here and should be celebrating that. At our house, we will be holding a large party all day and then going to watch the fireworks to celebrate the good fortune that we have to live here in the US and our nation's capital!

You are probably one of those who flies a U.S. flag right out in front of your house, aren’t you.
I own a flag, and yes, we sometimes display it outside. It was draped on my grandfather’s coffin, I’m proud of his service, and I am not ashamed of owning a flag. I guess you can say I am “one of those” who votes Democrat, marches for Black Lives Matter and for Pride, and loves this country and works to make it a better place by taking actual action and doesn’t just shoot my mouth off on DCUM. Yeah, I guess you could call me one of those. And I guess I’m also one of those who doesn’t give a fig what you think or say about me.
PP, I am standing right there beside you, arm in arm. Well said! Happy 4th of July!

Coming east on Rt. 66 from Loudoun Parkway, I noticed that American flags were hung on the overpasses until the road reached Arlington. Ukranian flags were hung on the Arlington overpasses. Yesterday, my kids and I bought American flags and hung them from all of the Arlington overpasses.
Love this! Proudly displaying American flags as well. Wish everyone understood the SC decision returned a healthcare issue back to states purview vs outlawing abortion but unfortunately when folks rely on mainstream media versus constitutional analysis…..
But sweetie the states are outlawing it. Even in cases of rape and incest. The states that are now free to Gerrymander as much as they want due to a previous SC ruling. But go off and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.
People like the PP don’t care about this stuff. That embryo matters way more to them than the raped 4th grader who will be forced to carry it to term.
I sort of care about it, but honestly
- I don’t need access to abortion. I never will. So not a big deal to me, personally.
Hey, great. And I’ll never get prostate cancer, but I still think people who do should have access to healthcare. I’m able to feel empathy for them because I’m not a sociopath.
People who see a little kid who’s been raped and will be forced to give birth, and just shrug their shoulders, are f-ing sick.
DP. Just curious, what are you doing about it exactly? Elections have consequences. I can’t go back and convince everyone who wouldn’t vote for Clinton that their votes would have extreme consequences for women’s rights, I can’t convince Ginsberg to step down under Obama, I can’t convince the idiots in Missouri to vote for democrats.
So what exactly are you doing today to change things? Not going to a BBQ on the 4th of July doesn’t seem profound to me.

What am I doing today? Well, right now I’m having coffee and reminding people on DCUM that the people who are fine with forcing a raped 10-year-old to give birth are truly sick mf-ers. Then I’ll probably have some breakfast, and start researching which organizations I’ll donate to that can help provide access to abortions for the most vulnerable girls and women in the states where it’s being restricted. And tomorrow I’ll be grilling out and taking my kids to see the fireworks.
What will you be doing to help?
So if you are doing a whole lot of nothing (sorry rambling on dcum doesn’t count), why are you chastising others for the same? You are also shrugging your shoulders and giving up. So I guess you are also “f-ing sick” by your standards.

To those of you who are canceling celebrations or grieving: You’re waving a flag of defeat to the opppsition.
Agree. This country is also for all our daughters and we need to teach them to fight this war with all they have. This battle was lost but the war rages on.
Most pro-lifers are women.
