Obviously? Why? What does having a cold consist of, if not: having cold symptoms? If you have no covid symptoms, then you don't have covid - even if you test positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The current GENERAL trend is downward. The peak was 107.74 new cases over 7 days per 100,000 residents, on September 2.
We are not talking about general trend.
Trends are subject to the chosen range.

Kids do get it, though.
Even in Montgomery County, only 77.5% of the total population is fully vaccinated. If all of the 5-11 population would get vaccinated at the same rate as the 12+ population (91.3%), let alone the 65+ population (97.4%), that would really make a difference in population immunity levels.

From an epidemiological perspective, masks should be required if there were 557 new cases in a county of 1.1 million people over the last 7 days, but masks should not be required if there were 526 new cases? Really?

+1000 the excuses people use to justify to themselves their behavior is ok is bizarre. And, they are putting others at risk.
Living in MoCo is like being unable to break up with a crazy girlfriend. She seemed so appealing at first, but then you find out she's batshit crazy.
But here, you're attached to that crazy, anxiety driven hysteria. That honestly gets so crazy the only response can be 'WTF is actually happening here'
Numbers are going to go up and down for a while, especially with the holidays. It makes sense to mask when you have large groups of people indoors without any social distancing or other precautions. They should rearrange the schools so those who want precautions, can have them and those who don't and are ok with covid, go to different schools.

Gimme a break, the county is rescinding the mask because of VERY poorly written regulations, not because of community spread.
And in fact, it looks like it will not be rescinded; county councilmembers have hinted that they will be voting to change the regulation that triggers the return of the mask mandate, and instead will require 7 days of above 50 to institute the mandate, just like we need 7 days below in order to remove the mandate.
And given the VERY low numbers the last 2 days, it is likely it will dip back below 50 tomorrow, which would then cause that 7 day clock to reset.
