Must be the clubs you are involved in. Our kid's team is outstanding and the coaching is excellent. Of course, it a top team nationally and gets invited to the best national invitation-only tournaments. I agree it was painful in the younger years when not all of the players are focused and fully committed, but its what our kid wanted to pursue so we supported it. It paid off due to a combo of talent and serious hard work by our kid.

So good so far but you never know what the future holds. Lots of things can get in the way or even end it all. We try not to look too far ahead but there is a lot of pressure.

Gonzaga usually runs a day and half shooting camp in McLean.

I believe Giblin has resurrected his camp at O'Connell.

Prep and Bullis have lacrosse camps too.

Yes. DC isnt a huge hotbed of baseball as PP noted but there are currently commits to top schools at STA, Landon and other area schools.

Far fewer kids from this area play D1 baseball at schools people would consider to be higher echelon academic schools than lacrosse. This reflects the facts that the sunbelt states are MUCH better at producing baseball talent than this area, baseball is more broadly popular across the country so athletes are far more dispersed around the country than lax (though lax is growing), and this area is particularly good at developing lax talent relative to the rest of the country (although still probably behind Baltimore, LI, and CNY). For sure, there are kids who play D1 baseball at higher ranked schools, just in smaller numbers than lacrosse in a typical year.

I realize this is a lax thread, but do any of the ivies or top schools recruit for baseball around here? Are kids from here not usually good enough to play baseball at Division 1 schools?

My observation for club lacrosse (a distant observation to be sure) is that over half of all club games played are not competitive. Meaning levels of competition are not aligned. Team don't enjoy winning or losing games my large margins, no one gets better. However in the bigger national type tournaments, teams are usually better matched and most of the games are of evenly matched teams.
So play club lacrosse, soccer, or basketball for the enjoyment of the sport and your teammates. Don't play thinking it is a ticket to some sort of a better life.

Club lacrosse is a poor product, but until high school, it’s all there is for the most part. The middle school games are pretty uneven too.
