Actually finding those docs at other properties is like a best case scenario.
Which … isn’t … good.
I wonder if they relate to the assets who were killed? Will we ever know??

This is why he now has an awful legal team.
But, to answer your question. You misunderstand. People arent defending him. They are saying they dont trust the DOJ on this. Theres a difference. I think Trump is a bellend, for example, but I also think theres a decent chance that this, like the other allegations against Trump, is just a political hit job.

Pssst… the other allegations against Trump were not a political hit job. And when you say you think they all were, you sound like a crazy person.
+1
Although talking to pp like that has the effect of making the rest of us feel crazy. They sound reasonable enough, unlike the spittle flecked GOP pp on this board who has been calling us all “LWNJ,” so I think they’re proof that the terrible BoTh SiDeS journalism from the corporate conservative media is damaging. They have no idea how bad Trump is and was because the true context and meaning of his actions was always played as “oh, that kooky guy! also the Democrats are terrible and here’s why!”

But you know how right wing commentators will interpret this: Trump took empty folders as "mementos" of his time in the White House. He never had the sensitive info in the first place. Never mind he did have some folders that were NOT empty, but I can just see that minor detail being completely overlooked.
Not this right wing commentator!
Why did Barr get involved with this hot mess in the first place? Ugh
He convinced himself that he could harness a quixotic, unprincipled authoritarian like Trump to advance his own views about the unconstrained powers of the presidency.
Well. Perhaps he realizes his thesis was wrong.
Barr stood by whilst Trump tried to shred democracy in myriad ways. He could have spoken out. He didn’t. Instead he advanced his view that presidential political interference in the prosecution and sentencing of Cohen, Flynn and Stone was entirely proper. He repeatedly handed Trump a get-out-of-jail card.
He also wasted millions and millions in tax payer money with the ridiculous Durham probe that, thus far, has resulted in MIchael Sussman being acquitted on a bunch of bogus charges.
+1 to both immediate pps. Barr knows what he did. He stood by and helped this nightmare happen, and he is smart enough to know what he was doing. I have no respect for him whatsoever.
No respect, yes. But at least he is trying to distance himself which is more than most republican scum will do.
If by distance you mean getting in front of reporting that Barr became aware Trump was mishandling national security info while serving as AG?
