I think she was taken and I think it's someone known to them.

Sure, it may not be on the 24 hour news cycle, but I feel like an eighty year old woman being kidnapped in the dead of night by an ominous figure with no apparent motive would be major news? I can’t remember anything similar to this happening in recent years at least.

How many elderly people have gone missing since Nancy had gone missing?

It’s beyond bizarre that they are still covering it the way they are. This is an Arizona issue. Not a national issue. Even the police is saying it’s not helpful at this point for everyone to keep concocting theories.

How many elderly people have been kidnapped by masked intruders in the middle of the night? I’m sure some elderly people have wandered off due to dementia or other issues but it’s nowhere near the same thing.

You still don’t know that she didn’t wonder off. There is no proof that she was even kidnapped. It’s bizarre that this is breaking news 3 weeks in and quite frankly offensive to all of the other people who have gone missing.

So your theory is that a masked man with a gun came to her house that same night, removed her doorbell, and SEPARATELY Nancy happened to wander away that night?

Ok.

You never know. The woman who was found on Long Island, which led to finding all the bodies killed by the Long Island Serial Killer, had wandered off from a house into a marsh, was panicking, got disoriented and died of hypothermia. There has been no good answers about this case. Maybe she heard someone, came outside, wandered off and fell. It's certainly a weird one.

NP. I actually thought that as well. She saw the intruder on her Nest camera, got scared, ran out, wandered wherever. Of course she’s old and can’t go very far, that’s where it falls apart.

For what reason?

Break into a safe? Change the door locks?

You would think LE would have found a safe in the first few days and already had it opened. But my friends have small safes and hide them, like under dirty laundry, inside a Christmas decorations box, or behind what appears to be a stack of games. So I guess it's possible they are only now doing a full inch by inch search of every single thing in the house and garage.

These are the same men Brian Entin is speaking about above.

And coincidentally, the exact same night she heard someone, came outside, wandered off and fell, a masked man was seen approaching her house and dismantling her camera in the middle of the night. But sure, she wandered off and fell.

She couldn't have wandered far. They would have found the pacemaker by now.

She didn’t wander. These are the possible scenarios:

- An abduction gone wrong to extort Savannah and Nancy died on the scene - no credible ransom because she passed away. This would be someone familiar with the family who in passing knew Nancy’s daughter was a famous news anchor.
- A burglary gone wrong (makes less sense because nothing was taken)
- A targeted but random abduction/murder. The perpetrator had no idea who her daughter was and that the case would blow up like this.
- A targeted and intentional abduction - Nancy is still alive (this seems unlikely given that there hasn’t been any credible ransom note.)
- a targeted and intentional murder. No idea what the motive would be.

That’s pretty much my thoughts too.

It doesn’t matter. It’s been weeks. This is a cold case. There’s no ransom or reward that’s bringing her back. If the Guthries are lucky, her remains will be found one day by some hiker and they’ll get at least that as closure.

2 weeks is a blip in time when it comes to criminal investigations

This is true yet irrelevant to this situation. 2 weeks is not a blip when you’re a very real 84 year old woman without your life saving medication and nobody has seen proof of life of you. There’s no miracle where 84 year old Nancy comes walking out of the desert back to her family, safe and sound, when law enforcement has no clue who has her or why anyone would take her and the family isn’t being contacted by any captor.

There is so much empty land in that part of the country. I could see dumping in a remote area in Arizona or another state or Mexico. The area south of Tucson is just endless dirt and cacti. Mexico is very close.

+1 not a safe area

I posted earlier that within 30 minutes of her house you could be on a dirt road in the desert where basically no one ever goes. You don’t need to go to Mexico. Just drive west into the next valley. Or South but you are on the NW side of town so would be easier to head west I think.

Apparently, lots of septic tanks.
