These RIO Mommies are Delusional!Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Posted this on a different thread but it prob belongs here.
I truly think that we could solve the problem of the RIO mommies with one policy:
Current 7th graders can choose if they are going to Oakton or Western in 27-28. After that, if you are zoned to Western but your child has a sibling at Oakton, you can opt in to Oakton. The only catch is that you have to provide your own transportation. This would only last max 10 years and would be max 20 kids each year.
It's a no brainer
Seems silly to continue to provide all of these concessions because you want your current 5th grader to play lacrosse at Oakton.

Do you mean FOIA, sweetie pie?Anonymous wrote:Well my friend filed a FIOA so the mystery of who is going should be solved in 5 business days.
That was me.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What do you think will happen though if they got 1000 opt ins. Dont you think the boundary decision would then be deferred indefinitely?
No.
They only have 10 buses or so and the transportation will be provided to the in-boundary kids first. So they will have to make the boundary decisions before the school start.
LOL!! FCPS has a lot of busses, they're not just going to use the 10 KAA busses, it's so funny that you think that!!!
Obviously, you didn’t watch any board meetings.
Only those 10 KAA buses will be used for Western HS, and that’s the reason they will be able to continue providing transportation to the in-boundary kids who won’t opt in but stay at their current high school.
Read the FCPS website. It’s clear that the transportation is not guranateed for out of boundary kids who opted in for Western.
Why in the world would anyone think FCPS would be restricted to using KAA busses? Are you serious with that comment?
Probably the comment was made by the same person who claims that Education Drive is full of semi-trucks and trailers.

I’m sure people at Navy know they’re not in the mix. You know what else is hilarious? Claiming only a small number of Crossfield parents want to stay at Oakton but then refusing to make a petition to demonstrate that argument. That petition is over 650 now, right?
But over half of that 650 is Navy? So less than half of Crossfield signed the petition? I don’t think you’re making a strong argument here…
Dp. If most of Crossfield wanted to move, there would be a petition. Creating a petition is low effort. The lack of one, and the nonsensical excuses, speak for themselves.
Look at the names - very few of them are current Crossfield parents. Lots of former Crossfield parents and lots of Navy and Fox Mill families.
I know of no Fox Mill families that signed that petition. That doesn’t mean that some did sign it but it is not something that has been shared around Fox Mill. We had a group meeting to discuss how people were making their choices and no one mentioned the petition.

The bolded statement means something very different from the italicized statement. I would LOVE for you to find me the exact link and time in board meetings that someone said what you are saying because I think you're very wrong.
