It's interesting that they've already begun work on a booster for this variant. We're about to cross over a threshold whereby new flu vaccines come out each year to protect against the new strains. I view this as a really positive development and would expect the other pharma companies to do the same.
Hmm, so basically, with all the new potential variants, it seems like it's possible COVID19 will be here to stay? And we'll need new vaccines year after year?
Not thrilled about that, but if we have vaccines hopefully it will be manageable
Yes, I think that was always the expectation. It'll become endemic but more harmless over time.
I disagree slightly- it’s not at all settled science that we’ll need new vaccines every year. Maybe we will, maybe we will only needs new ones every so often (or never again)
Fair enough. It's certainly not settled science in any regard.

This is awesome news for everyone! Thank you so much. Let's keep going.
My good news is that everyone I know so far who got their second dose felt under the weather for 12-36 hours, but bounced back really well. One "pod" I know, a group of coworkers, all said they felt great after the second night's sleep. They recommend setting yourself up well with food, drink and pharmacy. Basically assume you will feel bad for a day or so, and plan accordingly.

J&J is coming!
This vaccine has live virus correct? So it won’t be safe for pregnant women? I’m really hoping to get vaccinated before I conceive (getting older and already put things on hold b/c of COVID).
It has a live virus but not covid. It's a relatively harmless adenovirus modified to produce covid spike proteins.
Thanks for responding! Did not realize it won’t be live covid.
None of the US-approved or US vaccines in development use live virus:
