Yeah as much as we are celebrating him I would still be devastated if my child threw his life away doing something like this. Odds are he’s getting some prison time and he’ll be sitting in a cell for many years after the news cycle moves on. He is clearly well educated and had someone investing a lot in him. I wish there was another way to overthrow the ruling class without young people feeling this desperate.
That said … for all the other disgruntled people out there who want to kill and be in the news, take note at how glorified this guy is compared to school shooters. If you want to go out in a blaze of glory, this is a better angle than killing kids and teachers, just sayin’.
But this kid was part of the ruling class through his family’s wealth and earning money off of medical reimbursements…
How is operating nursing homes similar to an insurance CEO using unethical means to deny claims?
Is his family scamming anyone? Or are they providing a needed service to the elderly community? There doesn’t seem to be anything more immoral about this business than any other medical facility. And who exactly was harmed? Are you saying the patients are being unfairly treated in someway? Also do you think his family is raking in billions each year and stock options?
I just don’t see how this is at all the same.
+1
Nursing homes operate HUGE scams all the time, the residents/patients are subjected to many tests and procedures that are completely unnecessary under the guise of medical care for the sole purpose of billing insurance and receiving payment.

He’s going to take a plea.
Yeah no way this goes to trial unless he pleads insanity and even then very good chance of a plea.
Crime is on video, footage of him at Starbucks, and they found the gun and the fake idea he used to check into the NYC hostel PLUS a 3-page "manifesto" that will show motive, on him in Altoona.
He's cooked.
Probably, but that also means they don't need to offer him anything. Posters here may have fanciful ideas about jury nullification, but there's no way a jury doesn't convict on first degree murder here.
Yeah?
If I’m on that jury, I’ll hold out until it hangs. I don’t care what they say, I just won’t convict. Period.
Now, there’s plenty of people out there like me.
+1, guy will never be convicted.
Yes he would. The evidence is insurmountable at this point. It isn’t a jurors job to decide if the crime was ethically justified. Their job is to analyze if there is enough evidence beyond a reasonable doubt for the crime they are charged with
I've been on juries. It's just a group of randos doing what they will.

Why would him being rich change anyone’s opinion about the CEO and United Healthcare’s business practices?
NP here. Well learning that his parents made their fortune from assisted living facilities, it’s like pick your poison. Do I screw over people via health insurance or do I screw over elderly and disabled people who have dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc and milk their families dry.
Yeah, neither family has clean hands here. Not saying it justifies murder but the hypocrisy is stunning. He’s no Robin Hood.
Yup. Interesting that the son of a family collecting medicaid/medicare payouts proceeds to shoot CEO of one of those insurance companies.
Elaborate on this?
Family owns 9+ assissed living places in MD.
NP. And…?
Do you also equate doctors receiving payment from Medicare for treating patients to be on par with an insurance giant denying coverage?

Why would they? He still took a stand against corporate medical greed.

Not if he has schizophrenia.

Someone back ~10 pages said his family owns assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities. The skilled nursing facilites are medical facilities. People there are self pay, or have private insurance, or have Medicaid/Medicare.
