No. Baring a court order DC will keep a thumb on the scale for “priority” zip codes. Based on the DC Covid database AA are probably receiving at least 50% of vaccines, maybe more. It’s hard to tell for certain because a meaningful portion of race data is unreported, but it’s hard to imagine hospital sites in Ward 3 would not have access and provide that data. So the unreported data is likely EOTR. Nothing will change until they are forced to do so. Why would they, Mary Cheh has been one of their biggest cheerleaders.
Who cares? Give the vaccine to those who are most likely to become exposed, sick or die. Those of us who are healthy and telework can wait. Wards 7 and 8 are still way behind the rest of the city.
The good news: Every senior citizen who registered by Thursday night was offered an appointment on Friday.

Pick and chose who deserves a vaccine based on “gentrification””?
People who come in and invest in the neighborhood aren’t worth it? Do you know anything about them? Or are you just negating them because they have money to buy in your neighborhood?
Pathetic.

Anonymous wrote:President Biden simply said every adult would be eligible for a vaccine on 1 May. All DC did was take one may and divide up the remaining groups between now and one may. Not everybody will have a vaccine by then, but you will be able to play the DC COVID Hunger Games.

I am so frustrated that gentrifiers in Brookland, Anacostia, and similar areas got an extra shot at getting vaccinated because of zip code when my long time neighbors couldn't get through because they were trying with one browser on a slow connection (vs having 5 devices open). What a stupid system.
They definitely need to dial it down further- target the priority zip codes, but maybe prioritize even further the longtime residents. That would remove the gentrifiers from the equation.

Yes, this isn't perfect, and I am likely not getting a vaccine for a couple of months at the earliest, but I am ok with it. I have the luxury of being able to work from home and ensure the safety of my family.
Stockholm Syndrome.
Totally. Given what we contribute we should have oh so much more, plus plenty to share around.
This is such a vague statement.
Are you saying that:
1) We are a wealthy city, we should be able to buy all the vaccines we need because we have $$$$$? There should be plenty to go around, and this scarcity dynamic / zero sum game situation is simply a false dynamic that we should upend with our collective power and sense of the communal good.
Or are you saying that:
2) People who live in priority zip codes don't deserve their fair share of vaccines, so why are we trying to make sure they get the appropriate amount of vaccines? The rich are the ones who give all the money that counts, so they should get all the resources they want first. Screw our middle class neighbors. They are losers. They are weak. They are worthless because they are worth less.
3) Or are you saying that because property values are somewhat higher west of the park only the wealthiest citizens' property tax, income, and sales tax count? The doors don't deserve the scraps we occasionally afford them?
If it's 1) then gosh, you're right. We in the US have better access to vaccines right now than almost anyone else in the world (other than the British or the Israelis) so we should be thanking our lucky stars that vaccines are weeks away instead of years away like they would be if we lived in Canada or Peru. Yay us! We're so privileged and wealthy! Let's use some power to make sure the vaccines get to everyone as soon as possible.
I have a feeling you're implying 2 or 3 though.
Because you have a truly warped sense of your own value and worth as summed up by your wealth therefore you think others are simply expendable and perhaps deserve to die a painful, covid death (since they are black and / or living in areas with more COVID).
Please tell me what your perspective and motive is. I'm truly curious.
