So really, this is the story of a rich guy dodging taxes while us saps in the middle class pay. What a shocker.Next you're going to tell me Bill Gates isn't a humanitarian, he's actually using his foundation and giving pledge "promise" to duck taxes and hoard over $100 billion dollars.
No, the story is that our President is beholden to whomever he owes over 400 million dollars.
I have clients who owe many, many millions of dollars, but those loans are secured by assets that are worth far more. Again, there may be nothing to see here.

Anonymous wrote:What’s the basis for people saying Trump is broke? Maybe he is but nothing about paying $750 in taxes says this. By most standards, DH and I are quite wealthy but most years we pay very little, if any, in taxes.
Anonymous wrote:As an accountant I am not surprised by this number at all. He has lost a lot of money on a lot of businesses. Without more detail, the $750 has very little meaning. It's just being dropped to get people outraged

What makes real estate such an awesome investment is you can be “profitable” (i.e. have positive cash flow and be putting money in your pocket), while using primarily depreciation (and some other expenses) to reduce the taxable income to almost nothing or even show a loss.

Exactly. It amazes me how low the NYT has fallen.
Trump is welcome to release evidence to corroborate his "fake news" claim. Do you think he will?
+1. Obama released his birth certificate. Trump could release a few tax returns and put this issue to bed, right?
Yup. He really should. That would show those darned purveyors is fake news. Obama did it!

But did he actually break any laws over the taxes? I thought people were expecting tax fraud? So far there isn't any that I can tell.
