Why do you keep insisting that you would have to cook breakfast for other families? Are you chained to the stove every morning and only released - so you can hike in the forest - after you’ve cooked for everyone?
You keep saying that since we’re sharing the house we should be sharing all the meals, that I should be making extra for every meal.
That’s what I keep hearing.

Why would you need to cook everyday? Take turns. Send a dad out for doughnuts. Tell the kids to eat cereal.
It’s not rocket science.
I don’t eat doughnuts for breakfast. Also, remember, we are in the middle of forest. There is no Starbucks around corner.
Okay. Replace “doughnuts” with whatever low calorie bar you eat. Same difference. Bottom line: it’s not rocket science.
Anyone going into a vacation with a chip on their shoulder and a complete inability will be voted off the island or sent down the river (or whatever saying fits your “forest” vacation best).
I wonder how many men actually cook communal meals? I have seen zero from my vacations. They’re smart.
It’s a woman thing. They can’t stop servicing, being caretakers. Sorry, I’m not a maid. I would rather be hiking than cooking large meals for groups of people.

2. Traveling and sharing a house with other families is just about my worst nightmare. Why set yourself up for that stress in the first place? Rent your own space.
3. There is no way to avoid sharing food if you are sharing a kitchen. Just bring enough for everyone.
Seriously?

Yes, and that's completely idiotic. We don't need to be idiotic just because others are, or because Daddy Governor says it's "A-OK!"
Anonymous wrote:I don’t get why OP is being so petty about a few foods. We bring some cereal, bread, eggs, cold cuts. So do other families. Food has never been an issue in any trip we have taken.
But, OP brought bacon. That's the problem. Who doesn't smell bacon and not want some?

Then don’t spend your vacation with people whose behavior you are not able to or even entitled to control. You are well off and yet begrudging some kids cereal and bacon?! Then it’s a control issue. And... well, you are not in the right here. Have you read through the responses on this thread? DCUM never agrees on anything yet is wholly united on how very much in the wrong you are. So thank you, for bringing us together.![]()
I think you were fighting here about how it’s not OK to bring doughnuts because Larla is on a organic, plant based diet and something about who was going to have eating disorder.
