+1 My experience as well! Dry mouth and difficulty exercising were annoying side effects though.

Yeah, another PP here who has sadly gone from a very healthy sex drive to none. And what's worse, is that with losing 10 pounds, my husband is REALLY noticing me again and wanting to get frisky more! Ugh. What a double-edged sword...... But honestly, on these meds? All I want to do is clean my house/office/basement/garage and do all those projects I've not had the energy/drive to do in years. I LOVE the increased energy! (Just don't tell DH that as cute as he is, I'd rather be organizing my sock drawer than having sex!)

On another note.... I just have to say how happy I am that I found Dr. Anchors. And I owe that to this site. I was 30 pounds overweight. (Just for perspective, at my goal weight, I am not skinny. I'm like a curvy size 4/6 --depending on vanity sizes.) The extra 30 pounds has crept up very slowly over the last 5 years. I had very seriously "tried" to lose the weight for over a year and only managed to budge about 4 pounds. I felt like I was starving and unhappy all the time. I despaired at ever losing it. Since my first appointment with Dr Anchors, I've lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks (and that's with about 8 of those days on vacations or trips, which makes it much harder to keep up with my new habits). I'm shocked at what a difference losing 10 pounds has already made in the way clothes fit, the way I look in clothes, the way I feel. I have several back issues and the pain is lessening as I lose the weight. I find myself WANTING to be active again, as it gets more comfortable to do so. If I could hug Dr Anchors right now, I would. I don't understand why every dr isn't offering this to overweight patients. We have such an obesity epidemic in this country. And so many side effects of that--less activity, more depression. I was following a lot of advice about calories/eating, etc. that were wrong (at least for my body) and I know that Dr Anchors' simple, but effective advice is actually doing most of the work here. HOWEVER, the meds help make it possible for me to making the kinds of food decisions that I needed to make in order to lose this weight. (I guess it remains to be seen if I will continue to need the medicine to continue to make good choices to sustain the goal weight.) But why wouldn't we want to help people in that way? Although I was technically overweight, obviously I wasn't even in the kind of bad place that many others are. Why aren't doctors doing more to help all these people? Why aren't doctors giving better advice and prescriptions to people to help them return to a healthy/comfortable weight??? I'm so mad. As I was gaining weight, I continually asked numerous doctors for good advice on what to do and all they said was stupid stuff that didn't help (eat "balanced" meals; exercise more; give up butter and cheese). Even as the pounds increased, and I started getting lectured that I was going the wrong way on the scale and that I really needed to lose some weight, they had nothing helpful to say. I even asked during my last appointment if there was a drug that could help. I was literally told "if there was a drug that was effective, everyone in the world would be on it."

I seriously feel like walking around leaving a business card for Dr Anchors in every dressing room in DC. All those people, unhappy, unhealthy, depressed. Looking at themselves in the mirror as they try on new clothes that are the next size bigger because they no longer fit into the last set of "fat clothes" they bought for themselves. People who struggle to lose weight aren't lazy. It takes a gargantuan effort to change eating habits established over a period of years. To change a lifestyle. To create new habits. And doing all of that when you work, and raise kids, or struggle with health issues, etc.... well forget about it. Not to mention all the mis-information spread through doctors, blogs, articles, etc.

I feel like I have a new lease on life. Losing ten pounds in 3 weeks hasn't been easy. But the phenpro and Dr Anchors' advice has made it do-able. I continue to hope that if I can continue with this for another couple of months, I will be back to a place where I feel like me again. I am so, so, so grateful to all the phenpro posters for sharing their stories and allowing me to go on my own journey. If you've been reading this thread and wondering about it... just call. Make the appointment. A little dry mouth and a decreased libido is something you can deal with. Stop hating the way you feel about yourself. There's help out there if you need it.

I'm eating between 1200-1300 calories/day and so far feel great for the first time in years. I am not not hungry. By the evening I could totally sit down and snack, but the meds are able to make me say "you know what, you can but you totally dont have to"

Topomax (the second medication in it) was also able to get rid of my chronic migraines so that was a God send. It's amazing how much more I'm able to move now that I'm not in constant pain.

This is awesome! I've had a low grade headache for 6 months....the thought of being pain free is mind blowing.

I dont know if Topomax would work for you. I didn't even get on this medication to get rid of the migraines. But it has been a very welcome side effect of the medication and I urge you to get your headaches checked out.

Are you eating at all? That's too much!

I'm eating 1200-1300 calories a day! (I'm only 5'2.) Same as I was BEFORE the phentermine. FOR MONTHS. But I was not losing weight. (I was merely maintaining.) As others have said, I think it's the "rules" as much as the drug. Certainly the drug is making me feel more comfortable with consuming that number of calories, whereas before I was constantly feeling hungry. But more importantly, I stopped spreading those calories out throughout the day. I've been 100% at just eating 3 times a day, without consumption of anything but water in between. (Before, I would basically "graze" my way through the day with very small amounts of food.) I've also given up the diet coke habit--I only had 1 a day, in the afternoon when I'd hit a slump. But Dr. Anchors says none, plus no snacking and my body is definitely responding to that advice! I've broken through my slump!

Even though I'm still on half-doses, the phen really keeps me from over-eating and from snacking. I'm still eating--so far it's about 1200 calories a day, so nothing drastic. It just helps me eat less--not nothing at all. It also helps the hunger feeling feel... more normal? So I can slow down and make better choices about what I'm eating. Not just grab the first thing I can grab. So far, only 3 days in, however, the biggest difference is probably forcing me off caffeine (which you're not supposed to combine with the phen.) I only drink one cup a day, but I can't really drink it without making it sweet and I think I was, in effect, drinking a candy bar for breakfast every day. So giving that up has made a big difference already.

Wow..that's incredible. I'm seeing Dr. Anchors Thursday and will hopefully start this weekend. I'm 5'4 and 183, wanting to be 140 again. I got down to 150 a couple years ago on a very active exercise (5-6 days a week/2 hours) and low cal diet. Needless to say that was not sustainable. I love to workout but busy work/family life has stood in the way of that level of activity. My hope is that PhenPro will help kick start a process...I have been able to drop to 165 pretty easily, but below that requires a monumental effort...

Hope to have a positive experience. How long has it taken most people to lose 40 pounds and/or reach goal weight?

I seem to be tolerating the medication fine. No constipation (as someone earlier on the thread mentioned).

Frustrated.

The first two weeks is really just building up the tolerance. The third week is when you're supposed to double the dosage and that's when I started noticing the really reduced appetite and much more energy. Although I had some of that in the first two weeks too. Are you eating anything different?
