I think u have 17 minutes a day to make y our life easier. It's not a big deal. Just do it EVERY day so stuff doesn't pile up!
I'm a SAHM with a preschooler and elementary school aged child. Our cleaning lady comes every other week. I'm a SAHM and still my dishes and laundry pile up. It does not take 2 minutes to load the dishwasher. It takes me longer to clear the table, wipe table down, wipe down counters, get pots and pans into the sink. This does not include time to rinse and load the dishwasher.
Your kids are preschool / elementary and your dishes pile up? Have them help! Or is work as foreign to them as it is to you?
I admit I am a lousy housekeeper and cook. We had a PT housekeeper but she recently moved. We need to hire a new one. I am newly pregnant too so we need to fine more help anyways.
It is so hard to find good help these days, isn't it?
Are you newly rich?
No, I'm a new SAHM though. We had the PT housekeeper before I quit my job. I am one of those moms who quit after older child started elementary school. It was much more difficult for our family to juggle all the time off school and afternoon activities, which is exactly what this thread is about.
When I was a working mom, we outsourced most of our housework. I was a lousy housekeeper when I was a working mom and still am a lousy housekeeper now that I am a SAHM. I plan to hire a FT housekeeper/mother's helper when our new baby is born. This will allow me to spend time with the baby during the day and spend quality time with my older kids in the afternoon and take them to their activities, do homework, etc.
Still in the honeymoon phase. Check back in when you've been home for a year or two.
I've been home for about 1.5 yrs. I quit my job when my child was in the middle of kindergarten. He has just finished first grade.
Are you making this up as you go along? You just described yourself as a new sham.

Anonymous wrote:All these SAHMs who think they need "FT help" are absurd. If you seriously can't handle 3 kids, then don't have them. A baby can hang out and play during homework and go along to activities. That is family life.
Of course, I also think it's absurd and wasteful to have a 7000 sf home unless you have about 15 people in your family, so maybe I'm just old fashioned.

I simply cannot comprehend how dishes pile up. You people are pigs, which comes as no surprise as I've seen the inside of some of your homes and this is even when you are expecting guests, God knows what an unexpected visitor would have to witness. You cook, and put dishes in the dishwasher and wipe off the surfaces.
Even when I cook dinner, I clean as I go. If a pan is used, it gets soaked immediately. If I'm boiling pasta, I give it a quick rinse and put it away, before dinner is on the table.
Actually our home is pretty clean. We have almost 7000 sf. The kitchen is the room that get the most use. I didn't say it piled up every meal. I'm just saying that it takes more than 2 minutes to load the dishwasher.

I have friends who feel guilty all the time for missing kid stuff but perhaps her parents were divorced and want the financial security. Some women are the breadwinners. Some moms just like working and don't feel guilty for missing school events since they are working for the kids anyways. Some moms don't work because their husbands make $$$. Other moms don't work because their income would barely cover childcare. Then there are the moms who have to work and have no other options. Do what is best for your family and don't get so upset about others.
I think what gets people upset is when some people come on here and act like everyone has the same options. The one mom where both parents have flex schedules with high six figure salaries while working from home sounds especially obnoxious to me. Then the 7 figure poster was equally obnoxious.
You left out some moms return to work when kids are in school because, for them, the juggle is easier at that age, and they would rather work than stay home.
I think the question was whether it is harder for working moms once kids enter elementary school. Of course it will be easier for a SAHM when the kids start going to school full time.
??? Your response makes no sense.
