I have read articles in the New York Times about crazy New York City parents hiring consultants for preschools, but haven't heard about that happening here. I helped my kids find colleges and have helped some of their friends with researching colleges and universities, but never got paid.

SAT is supposed to measure the likelyhood of success in college. CogAT measures the inate ability of a 7 yo. Different things, different strategies.
But then, I must be privaliged, as I am multigenerational american. And worse, I am Jewish. So I do not have to work, nor does my kid. Things are handed to me.
Too much information. Much too much incriminating information. I only asked whether your children used SAT prep services.

S/He's baack the crazy prepper. No one does SAT or TJ prep for an edge here.
No, never have. My kids all had a great work ethic and never needed extra help outside of school. I know people who did SAT and ACT prep courses, but my kids did not, and ended up with scores in the 95th percentile and above.
And you should realize you have more than one poster responding to your questions.

Is this true for SAT and ACT prep services for your children in preparation for College. You forgot to answer my question -- you artful dodger cuty pie.

I hear that's more of a New York City thing, possibly ritzy areas of Bethesda and Potomac, but no one I know hires educational consultants. I have researched colleges on my own for my children and had conversations with other parents where we have shared information, but never dealt with a hired consultant.
...pardon me, i have one more question if you please...have you used tutors for your children or used prep courses for SAT or ACT and the like for your kids ...or is this a NYC, Bethesda or Potomac thing. Thanks.

I have never hired a tutor for my child. There are tutors in FCPS, but I think it is a minority of people that do that.
