This thread is no longer useful information about the school. For parents interested in Sela your better off visiting the school in person this thread does them no justice...

Sela is no more of a hot mess than Yu Ying was when it almost closed the first year.

What on earth are you trolling about? YY never even came close to closing its first year. You are clearly unhinged.

Could care a less about Sela and think it would take resources away if considered for DCI. Would be equally as dismayed if another language with few speakers was considers- Finnish, etc... In a world of limited resources, I think the focus would be on supporting languages that are used most in the world. You can get instructors, etc.... Hebrew is out there IMO.

^^Whatev! Hebrew is still not appropriate for DCI and neither is any other language that does not have a large number of speakers across the world. Supporting language immersion is very difficult- even finding the staff. Hebrew does not have longevity. because of the prohibitive costs to support it. Neither would Finnish or some other obscure language. Sorry boosters!

Can we please move on with this already? Both sides are pretty annoying at this point - those who quickly accuse of anti-semitism and those who are so vehemently anti-Sela. There are those of us who are really interested in the school and Hebrew (regardless of whether or not it is considered a marginal language). Can we get back on topic please?

And as far you being a DCI parent, may God help us. Just so happy that for all of your boosterism, Sela will not get into DCI. It's undersubscribed, can't keep an admin., has sock puppet after sock puppet, is teaching a language that nobody care about, etc... Booster, put your money where your mouth is. Leave your feeder and join Sela. Not in a million years, right. Funny how you liars always change your tune when it comes to your own kids.

I am not PP, but you sound a little unhinged in your Sela hate.

A mere 9MIL speak Hebrew. 5MIL Speak Finnish. However, 1BIL people speak Mandarin, Nearly 400MIL speak Spanish and nearly 130MIL speak French.
Hebrew, Finnish and any other self-limited languages just down have the usefulness of the top 10 languages in the world and I wouldn't want DCI resources wasted on them. If the fishyness of this is too overwhelming for you I suggest you throw out your underpants.

^^ Crazy "rabid anti-Sela poster who's really not an anti-semite" poster strikes again.

Seriously, ask Jeff to check my IP address and compare with my other posts. My children don't attend Sela, and it's not too hard to verify based on what I've posted about our DCI feeder school.

I stand by the assertion that an international language charter MS/HS should be a reasonable destination for any successful language charter ES. If Sela proves to be successful, then that's something to consider as an addition.

That these facts send you into such a frenzy says a lot about you, and it's not good stuff.

You're having a lot of trouble keeping in mind that not everyone who supports language immersion schools is a Sela booster. I have two children and we're at a different DCI feeder school. I see a lot of value in adding more languages to the DCI mix, and the more the better. If you don't care for Hebrew, then simply don't have your children take it. However a knee-jerk reaction against the option for others smells fishy.

Approximately the same number of people speak Hebrew as Finnish, though somehow I doubt we'd hear so many complaints about how "self-limiting" or "useless" Finnish is. That raises eyebrows.

Yu Ying's saving grace was Mandarin. No body cares about Hebrew. Every single time I mention this school to acquaintances when discussing DC charter schools and the whole rigamarole they all say "Hebrew. Really?" This includes Jewish friends. Some think it's a great idea, but still strange just the same. The bottom line is there's not that much interest and people are really pissed that it's not Mandarin or Spanish. This makes SELA boosters mad, but sometimes the truth hurts.

Only an idiot would take DCUM threads as "proof" of any kind of people at a school. Please visit for yourself and talk to real parents.
