Well, I have had 2 nieces and 3 nephews have been names so far. My children seem to be left off of this page while my sister, my daughter and I have all been named on the other thread of likable names.

Does anyone really name their kid Gunner? If you do, beware you will get laughed at by anyone who ever went to law school. It's a slur name for the douchebags that shoot their hand up in class to answer every question.
Gunnar, not Gunner. It is Scandinavian.

Funny that my name and my sister's name is on here but my kids, who have fairly common names, are not. Neither of us have ever liked our names so who knows what our parents were smoking in the late 60's/early 70's!

The name Alexander is so popular because it is one of the best male names ever. However, it's not popular where I'm from & so my son is the only one in his school and I've only ever met one other. My second son also has an attractive and classic name...but it hasn't been mentioned.

I have come across a few Gunners, but when I was living in Chicago and WI-apparently it's a common Scandinavian name. . .so I was told anyway.

Hazel (makes me think of the old sitcom with a maid named Hazel), Sydney (for a girl -- it still makes me think of a nerdy boy), Gretchen (don't want a name with "retch" in the middle), Jed, Zeke or Jake (they sound too much like a hired man at a farm), Danielle (trashy), Kristin/Kristen (just don't like 'em), Emma, Ella, and Sophie (would have been nice, but WAY too overdone), anything starting with and/or including an "x" or a "z" -- except Alexander --Zoe, Alexa, etc. (sounds like you're trying to hard to be different). O.K., anyone else left to offend?

I never knew a Gunner, but I knew a Gunnar (who's probably about 5 now). It's an old Nordic name and while I probably wouldn't name my child Gunnar I don't see anything wrong with the name. In fact, it's quite popular in Sweden and Norway.
