She tried to have it both way at the wedding, and it did not make sense she'd even go there at all if he was so horrible. She clearly was hoping for "her moment" and seemed so gleeful afterwards like she thought she came off great, but she did not since he just stood there and took most of it pretty calmly. And to be clear I don't like Alex so this isn't me defending him at all, but it felt very staged and silly.

Alex is a horrible partner, lies all the time. But it's clear he has lots of trauma and lying to whomever and being who they want is his defense mechanism. I think that's what missing from so much criticism on sites like Reddit. People online want to demonize people on tv, but ultimately they are complex human beings and storylines don't reveal all, especially with producers incentivized to make people hate/love "characters" for views. Telling her before the wedding actually did demonstrate integrity, and the way he spoke about his ex (regardless of whatever timeline issues he lied about) also was kind and normal. I'm not really seeing how he's so deserving of online vitriol when he's mostly guilty of having a very annoying day trader/athlete shallow persona. Chris though? Now THAT guy was not suffering from bad editing because that little speech stood on its own.

I meant rejected more broadly - he wasn't that into her from the start. She is very pretty and maybe she isn't used to that.

I work with a lot of athletes and it’s amazing how much of their training vocabulary they use in non-sport contexts. The number of times I’ve heard “It’s like my coach used to say…” So all of his comments about how it’s game time, I’m lacing up my cleats, etc. completely tracks. As one of the few non-athletes at my job, it takes some getting used to.

The bolded is interesting to me. Just thinking of one guy at my law firm who was recruited to this country for soccer and then he played professionally, but in our firm he never used sports-talk.

I concur, as a woman who worked with mostly males.

They can’t discuss anything for very long, without resorting to sports analogies.

To me it displayed a weak vocabulary. And was less than inclusive.
