He was my council person when I lived in Ward 5 and he was absolutely useless!! He hired the rudest, most ineffective staff ever and Ward 5 couldn’t wait to vote that lying clown out of office! I would NEVER EVER vote for Kenyan McDuffie!!
So what his kids go to private school. You do what is best for your kids. He used to be my councilmember when I lived in Ward 5. I thought he was great. On the other hand, JLG is my current councilmember. We had a serious issue and she called us back 6 months later. Her constituent services has been non existent. I would also like to understand how all of her "policies" are going to be paid for.
She has very little experience to run a city and she's thinskinned, much like our current mayor. No thanks.
It matters because it’s not just about his kids. The mayor is over DCPS. I want a mayor who is tuned in and truly believes in DCPS. It’s about everyone else’s kids! It’s not good for your kids but we are supposed to believe you will be passionate about making sure it is good for every one else’s kids? No. I want a mayor who is ALL about DC.

You are saying he is incompetent, but is he as scary as the other candidate based on what I see here? It sucks that people have to resort to just vote against scary.

I do live in DC (and have for over 30 years) and I don't want JLG because I dislike her policy positions, particularly on crime. She voted AGAINST making it easier for landlords to get faster evictions of violent tenants who have committed violence against other residents and staff. She is in favor of an asinine idea to close 18th Street in Adams Morgan to traffic. Those of us who remember the old pedestrian mall area of the 1990s around 9th & F (pre-Verizon Center)---know that closing streets to all traffic just results in a hellscape of passed out addicts and their dealers and forces city businesses, who already have standard city challenges of getting deliveries, etc. out of business. Her policy platform is a laundry list of "freebies" designed to tug on progressive heartstrings---free childcare for all, free downpayment assistance, more rent control and absolutely no practicality about how to pay for it (especially since DC already has the largest individual tax burden in the DMV). Her platform tells me that she has no idea (and no interest) in making sure that DC continues to attract and retain businesses. DC for years has funded its over-spending by the real estate taxes generated by the downtown office buildings. Since Covid, those buildings have plummeted in value, resulting in much lower tax revenues. One of her platform goals is to create more grocery stores in Wards 5, 7, and 8---that has been a rallying cry for years but the retailers don't want to be there (and in fact have closed stores) because of the rampant theft. She conveniently ignores that part. Basically I think she's a leftist populist lacking common sense.

It's going to be your fault when we have mayor McDuffie. I'm not putting my name on that mess.
What will be our fault? I lived under the control board. Janeese can talk all she wants but if you haven't noticed businesses are leaving DC and she wants to tax them more. She can also talk all she wants about Trump but she can't do anything except talk. Where is all of this money coming from for more programs? She is not experienced enough to run this city.
So you're not happy with what Bowser is doing now but you want people to vote for weaker Bowser? Super motivating.
Are you not aware that many voters choose to cast their vote for who they perceive to be the lesser of two evils in nearly every single election?
Are you not aware that many voters don't see a difference and will sit it out?
These two seem very different to me, I don’t see what you are seeing
They are almost identical in following typical liberal DC policies. Good luck with that.
