We might have been happy to be there but outside of the SoCal blues game we hung in the other games, played more technical but couldn't score. You don't realize how much better soccer exists in SoCal, Dallas, etc. Teams that look "very impressive" here in the mid atlantic are routinely humbled this time of year. It happens over and over
Good question for these overhyped coaches everyone is running after in the DMV. It is in those tournaments when these coaches get humbled. Yet everyone is chasing. There is no good development in DMV. All clubs are money grab and these coaches are more like
Salespeople for the clubs. And the parents with extra income in the DMV are happy to shell and keep chasing air these coaches sell to them. FOMO, badges and lying to the kids making them think they are the best are the issues that need to be addressed in the DMV. Young players too pumped up then boom the reality hits in nationals.
Man what a hater. Im sorry your team didnt make it to San Diego.
It is not about hater. You need to wake up and see what the real issue is. It is not about San Diego or San Francisco. The reality question for everyone in this area is. Why California and and Texas teams are way better than the teams in the DMV? The DMV should have all the resources but honestly the coaching has never been there. It is a coaching and parents problem. Clubs never really develop anything. Bunch off sales people.
What’s different in California and Texas? Soccer culture. There are just more people who are soccer natives (coaches, parents, players) who have grown up with it, played with their friends and families, watched games on tv. NoVa and MD teams are made up of suburban kids whose parents don’t know the positions on a soccer field and are just trying to get them into name brand colleges.

About 3-4 were actively recruited to cross the line, none of these players made the decision to go.

Kudos to Union management for helping write this narrative of folly. Please watch the games, they will be free by mid weekend. These weren’t exactly well coached nor executed games. Fortunately, talent always follows the coaches especially the ones we all know by initials

So Cal alone has what 25 million ppl? Meanwhile you have 3 ECNL clubs in a small area of MD pulling from each other. Not to mention a trip across the bridge to VA. Also helps when you can play year round soccer and not have to rely on Futsal during the winter months.
But you keep on hating.

I didn't watch the games so I can't comment if they got humbled, but I think it's fair to say Bethesda and Arlington would be considered top 25 teams in the country based on their results, at least in the 2011 group. That's pretty damn good IMO.
SoCal Blues players were all very strong, fast/high motor types. Bethesda is more technical and disciplined. Not saying they would beat SoCal but from a soccer purist perspective, Bethesda plays a better style of soccer. Not taking anything away from SoCal blues they're definitely top notch.

I’d add Bethesda to the 2011 list.
