As an Indian, I hate Israel. Hate. I cannot understand for the life of me how anyone can support this kind of violent nationalism.
Belly laughs! I’m not sure you meant to be ironic or not…Your racism and hate free no one.
I’m not the one who wrote the first quote but how is it racist to hate Israel? It’s a despicable nation that is taking people’s land and killing them for it in the most cruel ways every single day.
I would say that to any nation that inflicted such cruelty.
Are you offended because it’s a nation of white settlers from Eastern Europe. And you are one too? Sorry but THAT is racist. To obsolve one’s people who are doing harm just because of their race.

So happens we went out for lunch today for our monthly get together. We are a real mix of personalities. Of the 8 of us, 2 are Jewish the rest are mixed religions. We all never bring up politics or religion as an unspoken rule however today the most outspoken of the bunch came out and blasted Israel for what they are doing. She really unloaded, once she got started, she didn't let up (with encouragement from others). We were all kind of surprised and in shock at first. One of the moms (Jewish) is married to a christian husband and is not religious and was one of the first to agree. Then a few others did too. The other Jewish mom however did not take this well. She started to defend whats going on then abruptly got up and said she had to leave early.
Of all the moms, shes the one I am the least close with but I feel badly for how it went. I want to call her just to see how shes doing because I know it was upsetting to her. Not to say I agree with her at all but shes human and no doubt felt really outnumbered as the "ringleader" came on really strong. Should I call or leave it alone?

I hope you resolved this already but if not -I probably would reach out to the woman just to gently check on her.
I believe we need to try to not let politics damage our personal relationships and mutually supportive group vibes. You may not be that close to her but she is part of a group that you value.
I say that as someone who completely horrified by the starvation and dehumanization of Gaza citizens. The approximate places to register disapproval are with your elected officials, peaceful protests and public forums dedicated to addressing this issue. Faith communities of all kinds are rightfully praying for the Palestinians (and Ukrainians/ other victims of violence and displacement all over the world).
I agree with many PPs that most of us distinguish between IDF and civilian Israelis. Civilian Jewish Americans are even further removed from responsibility for the horror show.
(I believe that) we need to not allow all extremism in the world fracture our personal social connections.
Peace

I have never heard ANYONE unleash on the IDF without ALSO talking smack about Jewish people. THAT is the real issue for me. Their antisemitism comes roaring out, and they can't/won't see that.
I have. And it gets called antisemitism anyway.
+1
I am against what Israel is doing and that doesn't make me antisemitic.

No, racist. I am offended because you are a Neo-Nazi advancing racist, white supremacist, ignorant AF, ahistorical nonsense. Sorry, but nothing absolves (note spelling) you of your petty bigotry and lack of moral compass. And it’s funny that someone who identifies as Indian (an ethnonreligious state founded in 1947 displacing over a million people) would advance hate in this forum against Israel And you can kiss my brown Semitic ass, skinhead.
umm I'm Pakistani but India was NOT founded as an ethnoreligious state. The present day BJP hindutva people who are very pro-Israel are not the founders of India, far from it and those founders advocated for a similar multilingual, multiethnic, multi sectarian state to be established in what is now palestine/Israel which is what any modern. liberal right thinking human being should want- only nut jobs and crazies want a state that is a religious republic. It's literally why my parents immigrated from Pakistan- when it became an islamic republic in the 1970s. anyone who likes religious republics is a backwards freak - doesn't matter what religion.

Ah yes. Let’s not think about Christian Supremacy or Muslim Supremacy. Girl, no religion has a corner on this idiocy.
