It's hard to create a new pipeline, but it's bad for the region to have a good club fall by the wayside. Competition keeps the other clubs in line.

It’s actually 2 good clubs that are dying. The reason why the DCE pipeline is so bad to begin with is because BLC started to see Next Level poach entire teams worth of young talent over and over again 4 or 5 years ago. Would be great to have BLC get back to what it used to be and for DCE to then naturally pick back up. Not sure what Urick can do without also working on the BLC program.

Not sure BLC can come back because that model is outdated. Competitive clubs need to attract the best players, and DCE doesn't seem to have the staff and focus that used to work. Absent competing better for DMV players, they'd have to get players from outside the area who are overlooked. There's absolutely enough of these guys (Army keeps finding some), but that seems infinitely harder than getting local guys to come back.

Disagree to some extent. It isn't going to be easy but DCE took the 1st step by merging with BLC. It connected the very successful HS program with a youth program that can bring in a baseline of players that can be supplemented with outside talent. Both BLC and DCE were suffering because they weren't one stop shops. BLC lost its best youth talent to NL or ML because parents want to be sure there was a HS program to go to. Yes, DCE and BLC had some strong connections but it wasn't fully integrated. Now it is.

Think about VLC and Cavs. VLC was only a HS program. It tried to self-grow its youth program with some limited success. It bought the Cavs which had huge growing pains and caused some clear issues but at the end of the day VLC's youth program is starting to grow and will create a sustainable HS program.

This is why Blackwolf and Hard Lax died. There just wasn't a youth program to sustain the numbers and bring in the necessary $$$.

The one-stop shop has become necessary because the treadmill starts earlier and earlier. Madlax teams, for instance, have reasonably stable rosters beginning at a young age. Parents want to get their kids on earlier because they're worried there won't be a landing spot later. Given the money involved and the early marketing for not great players (2031 Next Level has my favorite example), it seems that parents are right to be worried.

If you're not inking NIL deals for your 12 year old, you're doing it wrong.

Don't misunderstand me: I'm not rooting for DCE to fail. The people in charge have been doing the minimum required. See other posts about zero recruiting help, MIA coaches, etc. It's tough to draw talent who has other choices who will care.

I truly hope Urick turns it around. He should start by engaging the upper class parents to see what's not working.

Been keeping an eye out for them because I’m intrigued for my son to try out this summer (his current team is a whole other story) but they don’t appear to be playing that well yet based on some Fall tourney results and the small sample size so far in HoCo AAA group games. I haven’t seen them play yet, just what’s on paper, so I know that has its limits.

Any idea where most of the kids came from? Are they Elite level players who moved on from their teams for a new opportunity or are they mostly AAA/AA type players who hadn’t yet broken into an Elite level squad?

They're 2-1 in AAA and were missing half their team for spring break in only loss

My bad. They’re 1-2 according to hoco’s website.

The results speak for themselves. The 30s are not a strong group thus far, and it doesn't look like a lot of help is coming their way. Will be interesting to see if this pattern repeats for the next few cycles.

The BLC Blue 2031 team is 2-2 in the single A division of HoCo so it’s not looking good.

Team would be best playing at AA. Their best players moved on to Elite teams last year.
This isn't going to change unless another local team implodes and players move en masse.

They're good enough to compete at Elite for the 2031s, which isn't good. If they don't get an influx this year, I doubt it improves. They should be better than they are, and I don't know why the 30s and 29s are floundering so badly.

What r u saying the 2030 team would
Be good enough to compete in the 2032 elite. I would welcome that any day and the top for 31 teams would salivate for that.

I’m pretty sure the PP meant to say that the 2030 black team was NOT good enough to compete against 2031 elite teams.

They are saying the 2031's aren't good enough for the elite 2031's. So why would the 2030's be in the elite because a better team in the age group above isn't competing.

There are no DCE 2031s
