Yes as you sit your half- employed arse at your home office escaping or answering to DOGE everyday. Yes, you can judge from your couch. How about you gather your mass and go down to DC and speak your mind there??? I thought so.

No-one is personally claiming to be better than Cory. I’m just noting that he doesn’t strike me as Presidential timber. YMMV. Granted, it’s slim pickings for Democratic candidates

I would disagree with this. Amy Klobuchar, Gretchen Whitmer, Roy Cooper, Joshua Stein and Pete Buttigieg immediately come to mind as not 70 year old + moderate liberals from the Midwest or purple states. AOC is once in a generation talent, if the voter base ever catches up to her policies (we’d need someone more moderate in 2028).

Attempting to predict the front runners for the 2028 Dem nomination is a waste of time in 2025. There are plenty of qualified and fit for office potential candidates who deserve a chance to present themselves and their platform to the American people in a fair and open to all 2028 primary. All we can hope for is for a nominee chosen by the people with little to no manipulation by the DNC in determining who does and doesn't have a chance at the nomination.

AOC is a generational talent but her anti-capitalism and close the wealth gap rhetoric puts her in conflict with big money political donors and her open and honest stance on the insider trading shenanigans of her Congressional colleagues leaves her out in the cold as far as support from within the party base is concerned. You have to play nice with the mega donors and you have to put loyalty to the team ahead of integrity if you want to be an Executive or Legislative Branch leader on the Federal level.

Weird take. Our bench isn’t impressive so don’t think about it. The DNC puts its finger on the scale, so assume they won’t. Economic populism won’t please our donors, and mentioning fraud will annoy our politicians. So self-censor and campaign for the status quo voters hate. Great advice. Do nothing, Democrats. We got this.and no, the Republicans aren’t paying me to promote this strategy.

ump is DONE. Cory Booker destroyed him by talking about the first two months of his second term as President for 25 hours straight. While officially a critique, it felt like an homage. Obviously Cory has been watching Trump closely and admiring his frenzy of activity. The legend of Trump grows. Thank you Cory!

I like all those people too, but I wouldn’t call them a deep bench of great Presidential candidates. Klobuchar and Buttigieg have already run unsuccessfully, Whitmer insults Christians and had herself kidnapped, Cooper isn’t even in politics currently and Stein is Jewish. And AOC’s looks are fading faster than her gravitas is growing.

Almost no-one begged any of these people to run against 80-year old Joe Biden in the primaries or to take Kamala’s spot this time. I don’t think any of these people are necessarily worse than Booker, but I also don’t think any of them could have done better than Kamala. (She got the second most votes of any Democratic Party Presidential candidate in history.).

Anyway, not to take anything away from these impressive public servants, but none of them are Obama electric or Bill Clintonesque. For any on your list to win, voters would have to strongly prefer our party, trust us more on the issues they care about most, etc. And that’s not where we are as a party right now. (Check out the results of Dem David Shor’s 26 million interviews). To sell our platform to skeptical voters would require a miracle worker.

Totally. She’s also a misogynist for talking about AOC’s appearance as a determinant for success.

If Cory Booker marries AOC, he makes an honest woman out of her. She could go from attractive social media star to stateswoman. Same with him. But if they stay single, people will lose interest in her as wonder what’s exactly is up with him.

Misogyny!! It’s our magic bullet theory! The reason Democrats lose elections is because…..most voters are motivated by hatred for women! That’s gotta be it! No way anyone thinks we’ve done a bad job.

Exactly. Democrats must admit corruption with open border policies.

Maybe Democrats don’t have to admit corruption re: illegal immigration or even apologize for mistakes. But they probably do have to stop fighting against deportations and they probably do have to take some positive actions like passing Republican border legislation and mandating e-verify. As of today Dems are seen as the party most in favor of illegal immigration. Which is a turn-off for voters.

Democrats aren’t the ones who tanked the bill. Stop acting like republicans are asking for reasonable actions.

You can't argue with statistics and numbers. Too many Democrats (even on DCUM) aren't really in favor of enforcing immigration laws.

We also can’t win back swing voters by debating them. They saw Trump reduce illegal immigration in his first and second terms, with the Biden administration waving in millions in between. Swing voters are unmoved by our campaign spin that “actually” an unpassed bill proposed at the very end of Biden’s term means that string border advocates should prefer Democrats. Even trying to push our partisan talking points as “facts” makes us seem dishonest.

I think the reason many of us found this speech effective, was because it made us feel seen and heard. This is a big deal for Dems. They need to keep that going—sharing the stories of real constituents impacted by what is happening right now is the only way forward. Don’t stop.

Agreed! After the Catholic Bishops in Whitmer’s State complained, she apologized for how the allegedly Christian-mocking video had been construed. Just because Christians FELT insulted does NOT mean that Whitmer necessarily meant to insult them.

And although the federal government was involved with the plot to kidnap Whitmer, interacting with the would-be kidnappers for over a year, Whitmer herself was uninvolved.

The problem with Whitmer is not the facts as we know them, it’s the perceptions among Republicans and swing voters. Whitmer has been seen as polarizing ever since her aggressive Covid protocols.

But polarizing might be a good sign! If Republicans hate you, it means they might fear you. Republicans seem to feel more threatened by Whitmer than by Klobuchar, Cooper, and Stein.
