GA

Doubtful. Competition is still better on average in ECNL in the Mid-Atlantic. Looks like BRAVE (VYS/BRYC) walked away with the better deal imho. Had to deal with a year of a McLean merger but picked up some extra talent that they will likely walk away with for the 25-26 season.

Assuming the girl has college soccer aspirations, there really isn't any.

I have to imagine the play by MYS here, which is understandable, is to rebuild their program by attracting the better not-quite-ECNL players, and stop the exodus of girls who were getting cut from Union and going to play GA at FCV and Springfield rather than RL.

GA

The ones who wanted GA would have gone to SYC last year. Guess what? None of them did by choice.

This has to be a troll. Only someone deaf, dumb and blind would say that McLean is a good club at this point.

They left ECNL for the boys side to get MLSNext which leaves their girls with GA or most likely GA Aspire. They're being intentionally vague because they don't want to piss off a bunch of the girl parents by saying we went from girls ECNL (best league for girls) to GA Aspire which is a band new 2nd tier league.

Even the GA press release said that conference placement would be decided in the coming months. ECNL has their ID session the first week of March, all the top players will be signed up well before then. So be vague to try and pull as many players over and then be like "oh by the way, we're playing in GA Aspire, just like we said in our announcement" By then it will be too late for anyone to leave and they'll have full rosters

Quit spreading false information dude

If it’s false information then it is easily remedied. MYS please put out a clarification that you have both GA and Ass-pire. If no note is put out then you can assume they are pulling a fast one.

Ass-pire! Lmao

oh god please no….

Oh yes! It’s happening my friend. Get use to it

“For Current ECNL Players: We understand that this decision impacts many players within our club who are involved in ECNL. The opportunities available through the GA will offer a high level of competition, with exposure and growth opportunities. Our technical staff and coaches will be working closely with players and families to ensure a seamless transition into this new framework.”

I did not get this part. MYS does not have ECNL. Not sure what they mean by current ECNL players

So ML is bringing his 2010 team to McClean GA...

Doubt this happens. Worse case the team gets fractured. Best case, they still lose a few if old coaches go back to MYS

Bring the old Union 2023-24 roster to Arlington, the only club that has its ish together apparently.

Just because they are wearing the same shirts next year, doesn't mean they have it together. Arlington's had four Girls Academy directors in the last four years. They've gone from being towards the top half of the table to consistently being in the bottom. New director is young, overwhelmed, and too inexperienced and it shows. Only two of their 08s (her team) have been recruited, and one of those to a satellite school no one's ever heard of. Meanwhile other top ECNL clubs are boasting of 7-8 or more class of 2026 recruits. There's no consistency and so the teams start strong and fizzle. Happened with the 08s, the 09s and soon the 11s. Don't be surprised if you see Arlington kids at NVA, FCV and MYS try-outs. Boys side isn't doing any better. Arlington survives because its talent is too busy to travel, but once MYS is a real possibility, kids will start to leave.

I never said that is what was happening, PP asked what would be their incentive to be misleading? Well their incentive would be to keep as many players as they could possibly get because that is all clubs care about. if clubs didn't care about the number of players they had they wouldn't have 22+ player rosters or 3rd, 4th and 5th teams - none of that screams "player development'

Yes, but the head-fake would last for about 5 minutes. Surely, no one is that dumb to think it will fly for longer than that and the market of parents and players will be like damn I didn't know this was for Aspire by the end of March. They thought of this right?

Every parent will ask at McLean tryouts and if McLean can’t say they are GA then families will know they are GAAspire.

It will be both. 1st team is GA and 2nd team is Aspire.

End of March most ECNL rosters are set (heck maybe even early/mid March), so yeah i think there will be some trapped players that won't have other options because they wouldn't be the top 10% that could make an ECNL roster by that point in time (i'm not saying only the top 10% make ECNL rosters, i'm saying at that point when 16 or 17 rosters spots have been filled, there won't be many options available)
