It might help. Most of us won't be able to buy very much, so all that production in China for the US will slow.

And all this people not traveling to the US and not flying will definitely help.slow climate change.

It's the only win win I can see on the Republican plans right now.

Killing our industry. We have significant manufacturing in the US, but of course all of the components do not come from the US. Is it worth closing plants? You just can't build manufacturing overnight.

I guess the membership now understands that Trump’s fevered dream that tariffs will bring back U.S. manufacturing is a fantasy.

And it’s weird, because if that were the case, Biden would have done it. No president in U.S. history has been as pro-labor as Biden.

It actually won't. It will encourage people to keep old, used cars for longer periods of time. They will be unsafe and more polluting relative to newer cars.

Not a joke - if you keep these tariffs on for decades, the American roads will start to look like Cuba. Old cars from the 1990s and 2000s being constantly fixed by poorer Americans who can't afford $50-80K for a new minivan, SUV, or truck.
