After every soccer game, basketball game and baseball game, the parent that was responsible for snacks provided juicy juice, water and Hawaiian Punch along with a small bag of chips or Cheetos. So yeah, kids, including athletic kids, drink sugar padded drinks. 7-11 was a major stop for a slurpee on the way from school. Or perhaps it’s just city kids who drink sugary drinks. I have no clue what the kids in the burbs and exurbs drink. You say they only drink water. Cool.

I've done the whole snack parent thing at games, for many years. Yes, a lot of times parents will bring Capri Sun, juice boxes, etc. But even YOU mentioned water. I have no problem with a juice box or Capri Sun after a game. But in general, my kids aren't drinking crap all the time. YMMV.
