I think SMCM is cool too, but the lack of OOS people is my sticking point. I won't be unhappy if DC picks it, however. I did like Washington College a little more.

Wooster or st. Olaf. I don’t think Kenyon is worth the extra $, Beloit is tiny. Wooster has rep for learning differences. St Olaf has more artistic side, though in a more wholesome way.

I agree. Elon gets high marks for student satisfaction and teaching quality. Gettysburg and Dickinson are strong choices, but increased cost is a factor and weather less appealing. Delaware could be a fun school, not sure if there’s a preference for smaller college (seems so from the list).

Um, no it's not. I have had one Poli Sci major and one IR major graduate from JMU. Both were employed right out of college in their fields and have been moving up steadily. Highly recommend JMU.


I also had one graduate from there and from WM -- there is zero comparison between the levels of coursework and the quality of instruction they received.
JMU's upper division classes would have homework consisting of worksheets of vocabulary words and fill in the blank sentences - it was not college level work.

For undergrad, yes. I know a kid from the Gym there now at Pitt doing business. He got money but he turned down Gtown, GW, and W&M for it.

Dc is deciding between wm spring admit, JMU honors and South Carolina. Cost and distance is somewhat a factor so Indiana and Pitt are out. Does not want to have to transfer, even the spring admit thing is a hard pill to swallow. Wm not direct admit to business, but sc and JMU are, pretty much.

Kid is sporty and wants to go Greek. Not really interested in study abroad which is one of the fall options for wm spring admit. Which would you choose.


Would do S Carolina in that case.

All great options but I visited the College of Chemistry at Berkeley and it was something else. Just the fact that it has such a rich history and all the elements that were discovered there. The prestige of Harvard and Yale is obviously in a different league but College of Chemsitry at Berkeley is awe inspiring.
