Either it is over, or it’s not over and it wasn’t ever that severe, or it’s not over but masks don’t make a difference. All 3 of those can’t be false at the same time given how few people are masking and the low severity of the illness.
I may be wrong but the people I know IRL who mask religiously are more worried now about long term issues. Not judging whether they’re right or wrong but often people will reference that right after covid their otherwise healthy BIL who ran marathons had a cardiac event or got diabetes or whatever.
Seems like some people are concerned about the long game and they have that “luxury” - in the sense that they don’t have to worry about ruining a child’s senior year by insisting on masks or not allowing them to go to events or whatever bc they don’t have school age kids.
This is all correct.
No one is still suggesting events be canceled or everyone mask in schools. Relax. People who are still masking are simply trying to protect themselves or their family. It doesn’t require anything of you so you can stop being bitter about it.
I wouldn't say people are bitter. Puzzled, yes. Wearing masks is one of the most visible things to do that does send out strong signals, whether you like it or not, which is why people talk about it. I'm not the only person on here who's spent time in other cities or countries where there's virtually no masking left, yet all the reasons given on here in the DMV would also apply to these places, but somehow the population and culture think differently. Either the DMV has a higher level of anxiety, or more unhealthy people, or both!
I can tell from the reasons put forward for still masking that many maskers are suffering from a form of anxiety, whether they're on the spectrum or not. Protecting themselves and their families? That's anxiety. Of course, I never approach anyone in a mask or ask them why they're masking, but it doesn't prevent me from occasionally wondering....
or the DMV has a higher population of smart, educated and health conscious people who understand the risks of long Covid and the benefits of masking. So they take a simple preventive action of wearing a mask to decrease their chances of being debilitated. Also in this workaholic culture a lot of these people have important jobs and can't afford to be laid up or disabled.

Anyone with any sense is starting to mask again right now, since the next wave has already started.
Really? You think masks most people wear prevent transmission of covid? Give me a break.
Anonymous wrote:Masks do not work. If I feel like I have been exposed to COVID or another pathogen (coughing child at a school performance etc), I will make sure that I do a nasal flush with xylitol and a gargle. This is proven to reduce any viruses that might be present in mouth and sinuses.
It’s simply science. Masking these days is performative or indicative of a person’s mental imbalance. I feel terrible for them, especially children when I run into families still masking.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I just assume they are a little nutty but not harming anyone and carry on with my day. I actually do NOT assume they are sick, in fact I think most mask wearers are not.
They need a check-up from the neck up.

I've lived in the DMV from 2012-2015, 2017-2021 and will return next month for a third stint. I've told people that you can feel the anxiety in the air as soon as the plane lands, and anyone familiar with the area tends to agree with me.
I think the predominant jobs in the area must attract a certain personality type.

Lol yep how can an N95/KN95 possibly prevent transmission. I mean I wonder why ICU drs/nurses use them?![]()
Read more carefully - I wrote the masks most of you dip$hits wear which are surgical and usually hanging off your noses.
Anyone I see is either unmasked or masked in a K/N95. The days of surgical masks on the chin are gone - you dipshits did that when you felt social pressure. The people masking now are taking it seriously so they’ll spend a few dollars on a mask.
Why so hostile - why do masked dipshits bother you soooo much?
