What are you going to do about how there was no proctoring? Many kids/parents may have cheated. Who knows.
Considering how heavily the essays are weighted, this is the most worrisome aspect of the application. Parents or tutors could have written the essays or heavily proofread. Kids could have been chatting about the problem solving essay on discord while the essay was happening. Kids who took the test on the make up date most likely already knew the test questions beforehand.
All of this is combined with pandemic inflated GPAs, that also may have been the result of cheating during distance learning.
If they prepared for essays, that means they are serious with the opportunity studying in TJ. Nothing to blame. Students also prepare essays for their university applications. I didn't spend efforts with my child's essay. I wish I had.

Except there's not simply a form to sign. They're (finally!) asking for actual third-party documentation. I think it is highly likely that some offers of admission will indeed be rescinded. It seems quite clear that they awarded the experience factor to anyone who answered yes and will now award it only to those who can provide documentation. There is no doubt that many families answered yes and do not have documentation, and surely for some of them the EF was the difference between admission and non-admission.
They are not asking for 3rd party documentation. They are only asking parents to submit the FARMs form to the middle school. The middle school can ask for documentation, but why would they?
What FARMS form are you referring to? A letter sent from a government agency verifying FARMS eligibility? There's not a form that one can simply fill out willy-nilly.
Exactly. This is now getting ridiculous. People are going any lengths to justify how their kid didn’t get in & how only cheaters got in. TJ is now doing whatever they can to verify the information. You got what you wanted. Verification of low income and its being done. Now just wait and watch.

It is a race to the bottom. I am poor. No me, I am oppressed. No me. We were taught the way to get out of poverty and bad circumstance was to work hard and persevere. Not beg for freebies. Such an utter sham and destruction of value.

Relax. No one is getting kicked out. Most parents will sign the form and submit it to the middle school. FCPS is NOT engaging in forensic accounting.
People that checked yes will not have a problem lying again. There might be a handful that won’t, but the biggest cheaters will still be at TJ next year.

A parent at our school just did this other day and then drove off in their Mercedes.
How do you know what the deriver of the Mercedes was doing at school? Did they announce that they were dropping off a FARMS application and you just happened to be there? Or are you suggesting that you work at the school? If the latter, surely you will ensure that the application is properly reviewed and is only approved if the family is indeed eligible, right?

There was this crazy poster who keeps claiming that FCPS has IRS data to validate FARMS eligibility.
We now know that they dont. They should have done this before issuing their self-serving press-release. But better late than never.
I am glad the DCUM community shone the spotlight of this egregious piece of FCPS incompetence.
Don’t celebrate yet. I don’t see FCPS actually verifying income. They will accept income if a parent signs the form, no documentation needed. And the Washington Post will look the other way.
Lots of people in FCPS really hate the C4TJ crowd. If they have the opportunity to toss a couple of their parents in jail, I doubt they'll pass it up
There are parents on both sides of the issue that lied. Parents will do anything for their own children.
