And honestly, appealing sexy actors are the whole point of a show like this since it has nothing else to offer.
Also, I am someone who watches Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Malayam movies. I can name a dozen actresses I find prettier than the actress who plays Kate. Being Indian does not make her immune from criticism about not being pretty.
Really? I also watch Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies and the colorism and desire for more “western” looking actresses is painfully clear in casting for all the film industries you mentioned. Name a dozen actresses you find prettier and we can tell whether or not you’re one of the self hating Indians who dislikes dark skin.

Yes can somebody who has read the book answer the question about the yellow? I think the mother makes them wear it but why?
I noticed that too. Always yellow or orange.

It would have been nice if dress colors had occasionally changed. All that money and the dressmaker organizes each household by fabric color!
I thought the turmeric scene was weird because these Indian girls act completely British ton society at all other times except for the nicknames and bangles. Then all of a sudden they need to incorporate something ethnic? The other non-White characters don’t do anything different, I just thought it was a weird switch. Are we having multiracial characters or not?
Agree. The small random attempts to slide in “Indian cultural norms” was utterly bizarre, distracting and completely unwarranted. These books are about the English regency not Indian culture.

This explains so much. The actor is so unsexy imo that I couldn’t fit the life of me figure out why they cast him. He has zero sex appeal and isn’t tall or handsome. I can’t stand it. Now I get the jack of sex appeal.

The mom dresses them in “cheerful” colors which really don’t suit her red hair. Once her mom stops that she can wear colors like blue and green that suit her better.

Anthony's real problem: he's so scarred by his father's early demise that he's convinced he will also die very very young (in his 30s, if I remember). That sort of drives all his actions, but it wasn't shown explicitly here. But it's as important to his character as the Duke not wanting to have children.
Exactly. And it is his fear of dying young and leaving a grief-stricken, beloved wife behind that makes him want to find a somewhat distant, detached “Ton” wife who he doesn’t love. He fights against his attraction to Kate (which is more cerebral than sexual at least at first in the book) because he thinks he must marry someone who doesn’t love him. Edwina is biddable and seeks a good match, and she’s sweet and pretty and “accomplished” but she doesn’t love him either, which is what he wants.
+1 the changes to the plot don’t make any sense.

You’re in the minority for a reason. You’re probably the Pete Davidson stan. Yuck.
