Fwiw, it is fairly standard practice for lobbyists to make contributions to many politicians on both sides of the aisle. A $200 contribution to Pence in that context does not make her a Pence supporter. Not disqualifying to me. I really care much more about where a candidate stands: on tax policy, business regulation, housing, crime. Monte is a centrist, which I realize some see as far right in the context of DC politics. I'm not planning to vote for her, just reacting to all the knee-jerk negativity I'm finding in these discussions, primarily from the supporters of progressive candidates. It is very much hardening me in my own more-centrist views.

I agree. I am really repulsed by the antics of these hard left (and almost entirely white) DC progressives, which makes me more inclined to oppose them and support candidates that seek to build bridges and find compromises. I refuse to be associated with people who behave like this.

Frumin's whole ethos is building bridges and "getting to yes" - if that is what you are seeking in a candidate, he is your guy.

More like “getting to yes and no.” Frumin may claim to build bridges, but he avoids taking positions on difficult issues and frequently panders to his audience. An aspiring politico but without the baggage of a record.

Where has he avoided taking positions?

He is for more density on the avenues; he is for bike lanes, he is for reforming and irmproviing the DCPS schools; he has outlines specifics on public safety.

He was head of the Lisner Home, proposed a 93 unit affordable housing addition. Neighbors complained, Lisner is still getting its 93 units, the those same neighbors are supporting Frumin.

Frumin also helped negotiate the lights at Chevy Chase Park while also getting support from the neighbors who walk their dogs there.

Finding compromise "from both sides" is a win for everybody. That is what Frumin seems to be able to do, more often than not.

Everything south of Benton Street will be forced to go to the new fox hall elementary school. I guess there are not enough school age kids in the Fox Hall?

Imagine buying a home that is a two minute walk to the school and now you can’t go to that school. Your elementary age kid has a 25 minutes walk cutting through the woods. I guess most will drive? I wonder how much this will impact property values?

This is absolute unadulterated horseshit. Written most probably not by someone in Glover Park but rather one of the classist racist clowns in Foxhall that shudder at the thought of public school children entering their neighborhood.

You are the lying racist. I have lived in Glover Park for over 20 years. It is on the Listserv idiot. It was part of a presentation about new school zoning given by the city. I guess you missed that because you do not even live in ward 3? So you can count on strong opposition to this hair brain plan to build an elementary school for the one or two people who have an elementary age kid in Fox Hall. I look forwards to facing off against at the meetings.

This is a total sh#t show. The only reason to split Glover Park in 1/2 is because the crowding is at Stoddert. The new school location does not have enough population to justify a school. In fact the area is classified as rural because the population density is so low. Look at the map it’s mostly park land, Georgetown University & Hospital, GW Mary Mount Campus, St Patrick, Field School and Lab School, old GDS campus, Georgetown reservoir, Krueger Museum and the Germany Embassy. The traffic will be a nightmare on Reservoir Road with all the stop lights and the people who decide to park before 9:30. I know maybe people cut through Wesley Heights. I am sure those people will want that!

The only workable option is to cancel the Fox Hall school, spend the money to expand Stoddert and force Fox Hall’s few kids to go to Stoddert.

For those who like to maintain a relationship with reality, see the statement below from the DCPS School Planning Team about the boundaries of the new school and the effect on Stoddert. This was also posted to the Glover Park listserv this morning.

"Final decision: We are very pleased that Mayor Bowser announced in March that she wants to invest in DCPS opening a new elementary school on Foxhall Rd NW in SY2025-2026. To your point, no decision has been made on how to redraw elementary school boundaries to accommodate the new school. DCPS will engage the community before the shape of the boundary is determined. One element of that engagement will be a community working group (CWG) focused on Foxhall beginning in the fall.

Image 2: Example Map: The Image 2 map you shared really is, as noted on the slide, an example. It was produced by the School Planning team and shared at a meeting of the Foxhall and MacArthur CWG in March 2021 to help that group think about the potential impact of opening a new PK-5 elementary school vs. a grade 3-5 campus. It was not meant to be a holistic review of all options. (Interested individuals can find the full presentation on the DCPS School Planning blog: https://dcpsplanning.wordpress.com/2021/06/11/foxhall-macarthur-community-working-group-recommendations/)

Need for data: I’d also like to express my strong enthusiasm for your interest in real data. I have a background in spatial data and am looking forward to discussing potential boundary shapes and land transport distances. (I do apologize if this seems vague. While I cannot share new boundary options with you immediately, we are committed to returning to consideration of the new Foxhall boundary in the fall.)"

Lol Glover Park is screwed for Fox Hall. It’s got to be really bad for Glover Park to put something like this out. Who is pushing for this new school in an area where it is not needed and will cause so much disruption to existing neighborhoods?

"The school isn't needed" is what I call a "Foxhaller Fact." Just make something up and repeat it until you believe it's true.

Exactly. Ben explicitly asked those considering voting for Goulet or Thomas to vote for her instead.

He should have told them to vote for the real and only YIMBY left, Finley.

Bergmann's judgment is questionable. He loves his grandstanding. He brought up US Senate elections in a forum and wears a Ukraine flag mask around. There's no sword for him to dramatically fall on with a Finley endorsement.

Same. We are backing Monte, who now appears to have been given a Hail Mary opportunity with the suspension of Duncan's and Bergmann's campaigns.

Monte is by FAR the worst candidate. Take the time to get to know her.
I met her. She will become one of the most corrupt CM Ward 3 has ever seen if she is elected.

Again. Examine what she does for a living and how she conducts business.

What do you mean by how she conducts business?

Her consulting company. Along with her husband.
https://www.monashadvisorygroup.com/

Her ethics are low?? Based on what, exactly? I will take Monte any day over someone who was so negligent and entitled that she left her unoccupied car running in a no-parking section of Connecticut Ave as she went to get her luxury baked goods, leaving her vulnerable to the carjackers who ultimately stole her car.

Right? Stupid idjeet entitled DC citizens thinking they can buy a croissant and not be robbed? It’s all their own fault. And what kind of sissy buys a croissant anyway. Or baked goods for that matter?! Gentrificators one and all

No way Monte!!

You do remember Chen is not running, yes?

Though I too would like that PP who is finding around slanderous accusations about Monash to produce some, I don’t know, facts?

Not voting for her, mind you. But such baseless accusations and innuendo need to be challenged.

…Cheh is not running…
