No, he should abide by the property owners rules.
Was there a rule in this store requiring a mask?
NO! I shop there.
What store was it?
People need to stop claiming, into their own echo chamber, that Youngkin was deliberately not wearing a mask in defiance of a mask requirement at Safeway. This is the Safeway at the Bermuda Triangle of Quaker/King/Braddock next to Bradlee Shopping Center. It looks like a space ship or something out of Star Wars. If you are familiar with Alexandria you know exactly where tis is.
There is NO mask requirement for this grocery store. None. There used to be a sign that asked you to wear a mask if you hadn't been vaccinated, but I don't know if that has been taken down. Regardless, Youngkin has already publicly stated he is vaccinated. He didn't have to wear a mask there. People need to unclench and let go.
I was at two Aldis today, the one on Monroe in Del Ray and the one on Duke near Foxchase. Both had small signs you could barely see inside that said masks were encouraged if you weren't vaccinated. There is no mask mandate in Alexandria. Businesses I believe can require masks, but most are NOT doing it. Please stop the insanity with just assuming there are mask requirements or that all Alexandrians wear masks. Screaming at each other, shaming people, it's pitiful.
Well, I mean if there is no mask required in the store I'm certain that Covid will abide by that and politely stay outside so that the good shoppers of Alexandria are safe.
that wasn't the issue and it isn't the issue. People claiming that the Bradless Center Safeway has a mask requirement and that the Governor wasn't abiding by it. Not whether there was covid in Safeway (FYI in 2022 you should just assume there will be covid anywhere and everywhere). You twist yourself in knots to find something wrong. I'm sorry you want everyone to be wearing masks in Safeway. Safeway doesn't require it. So you are free to not shop there and go somewhere else that does require shoppers to mask up. You will be hard pressed to find a grocery store in Alexandria that actually does require masks. I know of none.
A little bit of trivia: Albertsons owns Safeway, and it also owns Balduccis. I was at the OT Balduccis a week ago (against my better judgment, their prices are insane), and several of their employees weren't wearing masks, in addition to all the elderly people who shop there.
And as for the 2 Aldis I went to today, I saw several instacart shoppers shopping at both locations, none were wearing masks. Breathing all over your groceries I guess.
Who goes to multiple Aldis in a day?
Me. Since you're so nosy (and sounds snobby) I needed to buy a bunch of gatorade for several sports teams. You can get an 8 pack for $5 which is almost half the price anywhere else and they have the flavors the kids requested. What's wrong with Aldi? You're too good for it?
I have nothing against Aldi but I'm sure you left shopping carts all over their parking lot though.
When you take up two parking spaces is it because you suck at backing in or is it because you just don't care?
Ahh the fiction writer has returned! She knows more about you than apparently you do!
I also think your Aldi shopping cart comment is hilarious because everyone knows you put the cart back so you can get your quarter back.![]()
Sorry you need the quarter.
LOL Nothing says “I’m a decent person” like insulting someone based on where they shop! Im also confused-are you upset I return the cart? I thought you really hated people who leave them in the parking lot.
Now, now hold on, I have gone on record for saying I have no concern for the well being or feelings of people who can't be bothered to wear their masks when they go into a store for a brief period of time.
You just keep revealing who you are more and more…
Yeah, you don't wear a mask in a grocery store you don't deserve the nice me. I have stated clearly what I think of you as a person. Yes, I don't like you.
Are you sure there is a nice version of you?
Wear a mask and find out.
The funny thing is you’re judging me based on whether or not I follow the made up rules in your head.
I’m judging you based on your words and conduct throughout this thread. I’d bet the rent that my assessment is much more accurate than yours!
I'm not judging you based on rules, I have said repeatedly I am judging you on what is a simple courtesy. There are other behaviors that you could exhibit in public that I would draw the same conclusion from, many of those things I've stated already.
I have not accused anyone of breaking any rules. When I see you without a mask on I just assume that you are likely to do any number of things on the list of things that selfish jerks do. You know, things like not flushing a public toilet, leaving paper towels on the ground, leaving your Starbucks cup in the parking lot, leaving your car in front of the gas pump at a busy station while you go in the store to buy something because you think the gas pump is a parking space, believing the Handicapped parking space is also your personal 5 minute loading zone, and walking into a store 5 minutes before closing not knowing what you even want. You know any or all of these things is what I think you are more than likely to do because they are things jerks do.

Wait a minute; I'm the poster that shops at Aldi to get gatorade. I still don't understand what is wrong with shopping at Aldi? Why would I leave my shopping carts in the parking lot; that makes zero sense, especially since you need to get the quarter back. Heck yeah I want my quarter. So let me get this straight: it's ok and perfectly acceptable to make fun of people who are trying to save money as well as jeer and yell at people who are not wearing masks in grocery stores even though masks aren't required. Um, ok.
I’m the immediate PP and I’m Team Aldi for life!
I think there are a lot of not very nice people out there who think slapping on a mask automatically makes them a “good person.” The true colors always come out though. The same folks were probably nasty about other things before Covid even started.
Slapping a mask on for a brief period of time is a small ask and one that a self centered person is incapable of fulfilling. I don't know the heart and soul of mask wearers but those who simply can't be bothered speak loud and clear.
It seems like in the Youngkin case, the only person demanding he wear a mask was some crazy lady in the store. Most people don't pay attention to the demands of the mentally unbalanced person shouting at them.
There's no mask mandate in Virginia, and no mask requirement imposed by the property owner in this case. So, why should some random hysterical women get to set the dress code in a grocery store?

Sure but it makes him a giant douche not to when everyone around him is. Sociopath.
There was at least one other person unmasked in the video, and -- based on what I've seen in grocery stores in NoVa -- likely more outside of the video's frame. But go on ahead with your mature name calling.
Every grocery store I’ve been to in the Alexandria area has a sign on the doors asking patrons to wear masks. Remember all the “supply chain issues” this winter? They were actually labor supply issues. Too many people out sick. He is a tool. Now go clutch your pearls because I called him a mean name.
That's right. Asking. Not requiring.
Correct. And ignoring the request make you a douche. You’re finally understanding.
DP. You’re making a fool of yourself by lobbing insults at normal, rational people. You are clearly anything but. I’m sitting in a salon - in Alexandria - right now and some people are masked, some aren’t. No one is yelling at anyone and everyone is fine. I wonder how you manage in polite society. Must be exhausting to be around you.
Does the salon request patrons wear masks? If not I don’t see the problem—if so, YTA. Sorry!

I just want to be very clear that people who are wearing masks see you walking around without one on for such a brief period they quietly resent you. We are tired of you, we are tired of this thing being dragged out because of selfishness.
I'm not in Aldi to look for a fight, I just want my crap and go home so no, I won't engage and most reasonable people won't engage you but don't take the silence for acceptance, you are simply tolerated like the screaming kid on the plane. Everyone is irritated by the kid but we all suffer in silence because there is no reasoning with a screaming baby.
Well, as long as you keep your mouth shut and go about your business sullenly like the little mouse you are, why should I care about what you're thinking?
It seems like I'm living rent-free in your head. That must be uncomfortable.
I told you what I'm thinking. I couldn't be more transparent.
The great thing is, I don't have to care what you think of me in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Or, anywhere else, really.

Is he also free to ignore no shirt/no shoes/no service signs?

Now, now hold on, I have gone on record for saying I have no concern for the well being or feelings of people who can't be bothered to wear their masks when they go into a store for a brief period of time.
You just keep revealing who you are more and more…
Yeah, you don't wear a mask in a grocery store you don't deserve the nice me. I have stated clearly what I think of you as a person. Yes, I don't like you.
